Middle Distance

Monday Dec 24

Running long 1:56:00 [3]
ran around Hawthorndene side streets for a while (man they are confusing) before exploring some fire tracks. Ran over the tops of three hills with steep saddles and AMAZINH views! then went up upper sturt road until Melville track and down past Karka pavilion. ran back to Laura's with a lot of detours. REALLY steep but pushed up hills well.
Legs did not feel tired at all and i didn't have to stop once until 1:40:12

Sunday Dec 23

Running 1:21:00 [4] 14 km (5:47 / km)
Met with Simon and John for run from Scott Creek. Legs were a little stiff going up hills but generally felt ok...the guys were good at waiting for me!

Saturday Dec 22

cycle 27:00 [3] 11 km (2:27 / km)
(Blackwood-Hove)
Downhill ride to friends house -strong head wind made going down Shep's a little dangerous but entertaining nonetheless.
Running (recovery) 41:00 [3] 8 km (5:08 / km)
recovery run with dog Main Road>Mc Namara>Rankleys Hill>Coromandel Parade>home

Friday Dec 21

Note
rest day

Thursday Dec 20

Running 1:05:00 [3] 12.8 km (5:05 / km)
home>Main road>Mc Namara>Light Rd>Rankleys>Craigburn Primary>RANDOM TRACKS(Sturt Gorge?)>Main Road>Mc Namara(again)>Rankleys>Coromandel Parade>home
...or something along those lines!
Found some really cool fire tracks alongside the gorge behind Craigburn Primary School. Had no idea where they lead but followed them anyway. A lot of fun and felt FANTASTIC until a brief interlude when it started pelting down with rain to the point where i couldn't see at Coromandel Parade. Eventually cleared up and i ran the rest home...at good speed (4min/km)

Tuesday Dec 18

Running (Morialta run) 50:12 [3] 8 km (6:16 / km) +300m 5:17 / km
REALLY HOT, HUMID DAY!!

Monday Dec 17

Running (recovery) 30:00 [3] 6 km (5:00 / km)
recovery run in surrounds of Coromandel Valley. Pleasant and nice and cool...at 6am!
Swimming recovery 25:00 [3] 1 km (25:00 / km)
Swimming with Susanne- short and slightly annoying as goggles kept breaking!

Sunday Dec 16

Running 48:12 [3] 8.5 km (5:40 / km)
Had loads of energy after party (probably from sugar overload!) and didn't do much this morning running wise so decided to go for a late evening run.
Along creek to Belair then up Laffers and along the main road home. It was really nice to feel the cool breeze along the main road and probably the first time running in sub 30 degrees for ages.
cycle (transport) 30:00 [3] 9 km (3:20 / km)
Rode to Simon's at 6:15am! Felt really tired before i left but the cool air woke me up. Rode home again but with a detour to get shopping for party.
orienteering 31:00 [2] ***
Shadowed by Lauchlan on short, hard course using point features which was good. Took it slowly with lots of discussion!
Need to work on: distance estimation using time rather than visual
holding compass flat for bearings and not relying on it so much
looking left and right more.
Picked up controls with Simon to get some extra tips!

Saturday Dec 15

tennis (game) 1:02:00 [1]
9-8 doubles
9-3 singles
still undecided on whether tennis is "training"...oh well

Friday Dec 14

orienteering race 37:17 [4] 6.6 km (5:39 / km) +100m 5:15 / km
Summer series at Thornton Park
- Felt good running and the few spots of rain were a novelty!
Swimming recovery 21:00 [3] 1 km (21:00 / km)
Really short dip before Summer Series as it was so hot! couldn't do laps very well as all recreational swimming and no lanes for public.

Thursday Dec 13

Running 57:00 [4] 9.4 km (6:04 / km) +350m 5:07 / km
Running in Belair
- This felt really hard with temperatures around 36-37 degrees...almost as if being cooked in an oven that is not fan forced!

Tuesday Dec 11

Running 49:00 [3] 7.5 km (6:32 / km) +250m 5:36 / km
Usual Morialta loop
- running quite fast especially towards the end and legs felt great
- the apricots after the run made it all worth the effort...thanks Susanne!

Sunday Dec 9

cycle 2:50:00 [3] 50.1 km (3:24 / km)
Rode from Rostrevor to Henley Beach with Schools Team along the Linear Park Trail. With some members not having riden in a few years this was a very slow pace!
Despite two seat adjustments, Tom's chain cover coming off and a flat tyre we arrived to the other (slack!) school's team members who had been waiting an hour in gailforce winds for our arrival.
Laura and I then rode back to the Adelaide train station to catch the train home...

Friday Dec 7

Note
rest

Thursday Dec 6

Running 1:09:00 [3] 12.5 km (5:31 / km)
Belair run with Simon and Jenny...and later Zara. Felt really sluggish and terrible after being in heat all day at work (without a hat)...very unwise!!!

Wednesday Dec 5

Note
note

Tuesday Dec 4

Running (Morialta run) 48:00 [4]
went up a different way today...definately a lot more climb!
Felt quite slow on the up but great going down once i got to the familiar part of the loop. I always think it helps knowing where all the twists and turns are and when the end is getting near!!!

Monday Dec 3

Swimming recovery 1:00:00 [3] 2.2 km (27:16 / km)
cycle 40:00 [3]
rode down to Unley Swimming Pool via Shepherd's Hill Road

Sunday Dec 2

Running 1:20:00 [4] 14.0 mi (5:42 / mi)
went up queen jubiliee drive after working at belair (going very fast whilst having a rather good looking runner on my heels). Pushed very strong up hills and met Zara incidentally at top
