Sunday May 11

orienteering race 1:37:00 [3] 6.9 km (14:03 / km) +180m 12:26 / km
Started off quite well, knew Vanessa was coming behind me. Spiked 1 and 2 and chose a good route to three, remembering the area a little from Southern Arrows Camp. Then spent a while searching for bare rock on control four and lost time.
Met Riordan at the fourth control... probably not a good idea as both of us lacked motivation. Went around quite slowly, sharing the navigational side. Got really off bearing in the thick areas and it was really frustrating to run in. Got back feeling ok and definately should have raced each other instead of going on a recreational stroll round the course! Ah well, there is always next week.
Note
Course 4 Female (13) 5.2 km 95 m 0 C (
2 Lauren Gillis 89 U_OH SA 54:26
Comparison from last time at Narrenyeri...oh dear!

Saturday May 10

cycle (commute) 1:00:00 [3] 25 km (2:24 / km)
Rode into markets for brunch with Susanne...so busy but good. Sat on a grassy hill near the markets and were soon joined by a large group of Aboriginals...spent the rest of the time listening to them speaking their language...intruiging
Rode back from markets to Susanne's with a stop on the way to Trims
Running warm up/down 22:00 [3]
orienteering race (sprint) 34:12 [3] *** 3 km (11:24 / km)
20c
A real shocker!!
Wasn't really expecting a sprint- like race and legs a bit wobly after riding i suspect. Never really got into it and should have pushed harder...despite a v. hilly course which involved crossing the one very steep valley (creek) at least four times! Interesting route choices though.
C • thats my mum for you ... :) 1
tennis 30:00 [1]
Quick hit of tennis with dad before the upcoming seniors season which i am playing home games for. Pretty convenient as club is just across the road from home and strokes still in pretty good knick after not playing for a while.
n.b. must watch dad's deadly slice-backhand!

Friday May 9

Note
(rest day)
Met Susanne after work. Went shopping for a mother's day gift (bulbs, flower pot, gardening gloves & choccies) and then had an "O" meeting. Made some plans/goals for the rest of 2008...aiming to get back to running speed of City to Bay last year and converting it to orienteering times now that navigation is not too bad.

Cooked really good dinner and went for a short night walk too...eerie!

Thursday May 8

Running tempo 49:21 [3] 9.6 km (5:08 / km)
Run from Mason Fyfes house. Started with STeph, Tiff, John & Helen on the bike track but Helen and I broke off to go a bit faster. Arranged to go down to Cross Road intersection and turn back to meet them but both groups did not recognise Cross Roads and ended up going until we were past Camden Ovals. Stopped at a Bingo centre to ask for directions and grab a drink then ran back to an oval to do some intervals.
Oval was really weird (had two soccer pitches in the middle surrounded by low fences and a horse track around the outside. Not exactly sure of the length but I did 3 x 800-ish intervals with a long recovery. Helen did the last one with me and cheered on the others.lol
Back to the MF's for dinner...yum!
Running intervals 10:00 [5]
3 x 800-ish's
3:21, 3:18, 3:25

Wednesday May 7

Running intervals 10:42 [5]
Finished off loop with 3 x 200 with 400m (v. slow) recovery on uni loop. Didn't mind them too much...200s are over really quickly!

200's around 37/8secs? honestly not really sure as didn't have accurate watch to time with. hopefully faster : )

Tuesday May 6

Running (Continuous) 37:00 [4] 7.5 km (4:56 / km)
North Adelaide Loop with John, Andrew and Helen. Felt pretty fast and very little rest points on the way. Wasn't concentrating 100% on running but still managed an ok pace.

n.b. right knee a little sore from running on downhill parts on the concrete.
orienteering race (Ngaralta) 1:12:25 [3] 8.6 km (8:25 / km) +205m 7:31 / km
