| Unspecified (Firewood hauling) 20:00 [0] | ||
| Legs were toast after yesterday's extravaganza so while K went on a run, I hauled in 4 gardenway cart fulls of firewood. Stacked nicely in the basement to counter the rising fuel oil prices... which I just ordered 100gal at $4.50!! ouch....Shit is seriously going to hit the fan this winter when people with less money than me can't afford to buy fuel to heat their homes... ... .

| Running 3:00:00 [4] ** 22 km (8:11 / km) | ||
| ahr:147 max:179 | ||
| K, L and I went on a run (yes, we knew it was 22k before we left). But, stupid us, we only brought a pint (yes, pint) of water for both of us for the whole 3 hours. But, we made it back!
It was a nice loop, up and over Blueberry Mtn (2.2 mils to top) down teh other side, up North South Rd to a fireroad heading behind the hogsback towards Black mtn, down through a logged area (crap) and onto another trail that lead back to the car. Just need to bring more liquid next time..

| Mtn Biking 2:00:00 [3] | ||
| K and I were goin to go check out a new place in Bradford, VT that we just found out about, but we weren't going to bring Loki, just in case the people that ran the place (apparently they hold mtn bike camps there) didn't want dogs running loose. But, as we were packing up the car, Loki jumped in and wouldn't get out, well, we could get him out, but his puppy eyes won out and we changed our plans so he could come with us. (smart dog, he knows how to make sure that he goes everywhere with us!) So instead of bradford, we headed to Kingdom, where, even though they "strongly discourage" dogs... no one has had any problem with Loki before.
Turned out to be a fantastic day and the rain held off just until we got back to the car!

| Ultimate 2:00:00 [4] | ||
| Lost 12-15. I didn't play well, I'm chocking it up to a few things: not playing in several weeks, new socks that apparently are too big and were falling down and allowing my feet to slide around in my cleats, and having a cotton shirt on...i just can't run around in muggy weather in a cotton tshirt...ugh. | ||

| (rest day) | ||
| rest day. Got home and two of our fish died, not HAD died, but really about 15 mins after we got home, one wasn't looking so good and 5 mins later..gone. then half an hour later another..gone. So, we didn't feel like going for a run. and our legs were tired anyway. | ||

| Running 59:49 [4] 11 km (5:26 / km) | ||
| ahr:164 max:182 | ||
| Daniels Rd loop. Nicely rolling roads, mostly gravel. Gorgeous views of farms, old fields, new fields, oreo cows, tan horses, gaggles of geese and some peacocks. barking dogs, wooly forests, buzzing swamps and only two speeding cars. lovely!
(this was kind of a threshold run the entire time, keeping up with Loki and Kristoffer. But, today and the day after I feel good, not sore, feet are holding up and legs are only a little fatigued!)
Monday Jun 23 | ||
| Run/Hike 54:29 [3] 4.0 mi (13:37 / mi) | ||

| Loki and I checked out the Blueberry Mountain trail from Lime Kiln Road. Sign at the road said about 2.2 miles to the top, but we drove in about .1 miles to park. Beautiful old range road/trail that someone had surveyed and stuck stupid flat stakes in the middle of the trail with stationing (which made running back DOWN the trail in the dimming light very interesting as they blend in with the leaves covering the trail!!!) But, um, this beautiful old (smooth, not much foot traffic.. at all... so nicely runable) eventually turned into a straight up hike (which was just about the point that I was beginning to doubt that we were even on the right trail and instead just contouring around the whole mountain!) So up we went on this still very unused trail. Nearing the top, the trees got shorter and there was lots of apline vegetation, heathery looking stuff and azaleas, the trail could have been in our backyard with how un used it was! bare ledge and low clouds made me feel like I was up in the presi's!
35 mins up 19 mins down (cruising...even on the flatter sections, felt like I had more than just gravity on my side...strange feeling actually, legs were just moving, powering) Great run overall! We shall do it again sometime! (hopefully when the view is better.)

| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| We were going to go mtn biking today, but due to torrential downpours and family coming in the evening... we didn't do anything but clean the house and make cookies and cake. seriously! | ||

| K found this great loop up near Long Pond near Moosilauke that included a sweet trail run along an old logging railroad grade, then a bushwhack up and over a saddle and down the other side to Long Pond Road and back to the car. The trail run was awesome, easy grade made it so runable and then it traversed around some remote ponds that reflected the summits of Moosilauke on one side and Mount Clough (which unfortunately has no trail up it) on the other. The bushwhack was decent. Took about an hour. Up was really thick sprucy forest that seemed to be the bathroom for the entire state's moose population, and down was similar with an intense network of deer/moose highways. But up in the saddle, the woods were fantastic, reminding us of the old growth forests that we wandered through in NY this past weekend! Who knew NH forest could be so nice! Then, finally out on the road again, our relief of being able to run turned to hurt after several miles of all downhill running.
Overall a great loop, and my feet didn't even hurt...much.

| Unspecified (Lawnmowing) 20:00 [0] | ||
| Since our lawnmower does actually kind of propel itself, I only put 20 mins to this "workout". It's more of a note than anything.
Managed to find some shoes that didn't absolutely destroy my toes and heel and got to cutting the clovers that make up our lawn. My feet didn't actually have any blisters from this weekend (which is amazing!!!!) but i think about 3 toenails will be falling off and my heel is quite bruised. I've never had a heel bruise before, it's kind of weird, but a hell of a lot better than a blister. Felt SOOOOOOO good to take the shoes off again. No ultimate for me for a few more days.. However, despite my feet (and how completely awful my lower legs _look_), I feel totally recovered physically and mentally. I could easily go for a mountain run or something, but my feet are saying "NO!". oh well, i'll wait. I'd rather enjoy the run than hate it.

| Orienteering race 22:40:00 [1] 70 km (19:26 / km) | ||
| US Rogaine Champs with Kristoffer in Allegheny SP, western NY.
Planned out a good route covering the whole right side of the map, managed to get everything there that we planned except one CP that was mapped a bit strange..it was only 30 points so we bailed. There were a few areas of the map that were off, but in general the map was decent (for 1:30000) and the area was beautiful with huge old hardwoods and nice grassy, fern-y vegetation underneath, and not many areas of scrubby nastyness, except for an entire hillside of berry bushes that we barreled into sometime int eh middle of the night and some spots with waay too many nettles. 1st mixed open category! Not bad for 2nd rogaine ever!! 1870points.

| Road biking 20:00 [4] | ||
| When I got home, Kristoffer was leaving for soccer in Woodsville. After planting some plants in the garden, I grabbed my roadbike and raced down and over to town to watch the last few minutes of K's game. (and then we drove home together! It was dark by that point anyway,..i couldn't have ridden..really.)
Felt soooo good to be back on my road bike! So smooth (well, kind of bumpy actually, but smooth compared to mtn biking!) and so fast!! Ahh.
Tuesday Jun 10 | ||
| Running 9:00 [2] 1.2 mi (7:30 / mi) | ||
| Around the block.
K and I had tried to go play tennis, but the courts were busy, so we dilly-dallied for a bit, but the people wouldn't give it up, so we went home. And since i was in running clothes already, i went around the block...just enough distance to get good and sweaty in this ridiculous heat wave..

| K and I set out a control for the trek section at Fox Forest. Yea, just one control. We would have loved to run around the whole course that Daddy-O had set out for the race, but we had other "mandatory-volunteering" duties to tend to.. | ||
