 | Running 38:00 [3] | |
| ahr:160 max:175 |
| A run, not easy, not hard. This is what I would typically do before i got a heart rate monitor and knew what threshold and tempo were. Felt good, and most importantly, my knee did NOT hurt!!! YAY!
Now, due to some mention of going outside and doing field surveying, I am officially going out for the next 3 to 7 months (seems like forever). We'll see what this does for my training! |
Sunday Mar 28 |
 | Alpine skiing 2:00:00 [2] | |
| |
| Alpine skiing at Loon with my mom, aunt and uncle and cousins. Beautiful day, sunny, skiing in a shirt and no hat. Snow was thick and I fell on a mogul and tweaked my knee, had to sit down for a while until it felt a bit better, then skied the rest of the day. today it hurts a bit when I bend it and put weight on it. I really hope that i didn't seriously injiure it. I'll let ya know.
On another note, I was actually skiing for a total of 4.5 hours, but only felt that I was putting in a decent workout of about 2 hours, taking out chairlift time and standing around and chatting and resting time. I think other attackpoint users might want to consider the same sort of thing...rather than cheating the system and "training" for 4.5 hours, just being outside. I dunno. |
Saturday Mar 27 |
 | Orienteering 1:11:00 [4] 5.5 km (12:55 / km) +280m 10:17 / km | |
| ahr:164 max:189 spiked:1/13c |
| O-meet at Rocky Woods in MA. Very good idea to come down here, to get my mind back in orienteering mode. Out of 13 controls, I hit one right on, all the others I would either walk right past and not see it, or be in totaly the wrong place....it felt like the first time ever orienteering. Needless to say, Sandra kicked my ass, but we had fun anyway. |
Thursday Mar 25 |
 | Running 1:18:00 [3] | |
| ahr:160 max:182 |
| A nice easy run, turned into a faster paced run for several reasons: 1. my knee doesn't hurt when I run faster. 2. it started pouring rain and it's too much fun to run slowly. 3. It became pitch black due to rain and time of day, and also too much fun to run slow in the dark.
Legs felt good, breathing felt good, arms were a little tired? why is this? I'm not running on my hands!
Oh, but I found this sweet spot down by the Merrimack River, beautiful conservation land, nature trail and mist coming off the river. gorgeous! |
Wednesday Mar 24 |
 | Running 15:00 [2] | |
| ahr:151 max:164 |
| Easy warmup |
 | Running 30:00 [4] | |
| ahr:178 max:182 |
| Threshold run (I suppose) I was going to do tempo, but apparently I was going harder than that. I'll have to slow down next time, but I felt good. Legs were fine, arms a little tired from pulling myself along! but my breathing was rough and I was having a hard time with it. |
 | Running 15:00 [3] | |
| ahr:159 max:164 |
| Easy cool down. Heart rate didn't recover quite as much as I was hoping for, but then again, I'm not in great shape right now. It'll get better.
BUT!
I came to realize during this threshold that my knee doesn't hurt when I'm running fast. It only hurt when my stride changed to a slow pace. Damn, I'll just have to run fast all the time. |
Tuesday Mar 23 |
 | Running 50:00 [2] | |
| ahr:151 max:168 |
| REAL easy run to the NH Tech Inst. and over the train trestle. Felt much better today, although my knee is hurting more and more, wtf. |
Monday Mar 22 |
 | Running 1:03:00 [3] | |
| |
| Suppose to be a long-ish easy run, but I ended up feeling like crap, and spent most of the run thinking about when I can stop, walk and keel over and die on the side of the road. Yuck. Certainly doesn't make me want to go for a run tomorrow. And I was going to try to run every single day this week! hah

Friday Mar 19 |
 | Alpine skiing 3:00:00 [1] | |
| |
| Alpine at Crotched Mtn. Only a couple of hours, but the conditions held up despite the mountain just being full of those punk snowboarders! |
Thursday Mar 18 |
 | Walking 1:00:00 [1] | |
| |
| Just a long easy walk around concord, my roomate went to bed at 7:45 and I got bored so I left the house to look at all the beautiful big old houses up on the hill. Not really training, but at least it's not sitting on the couch. |
Sunday Mar 14 |
 | Running (run/hike) 1:25:00 [3] 5.0 mi (17:00 / mi) | |
| ahr:160 max:200 |
| Another great run up Mts. Welch and Dickey up near Waterville Valley. Felt good to fly past people on the icy slick trail, getting incredulous looks. Hah! And I only fell once, though I saw my life flash before my eyes that time, falling on a icy spot above treeline right next to this cliff. Yea, I slowed down a bit after that. |
Saturday Mar 13 |
 | Running 1:30:00 [3] 10.0 mi (9:00 / mi) | |
| ahr:165 max:180 |
| A nice long easy run towards the western more rural parts of Concord. Beautiful windy sunny day. Felt really good, even my poor knees, and by the end near home I didn't want to stop...I guess that's a good sign, right? |
Thursday Mar 11 |
 | Running 25:00 [3] | |
| |
| a nice easy run, just felt good to get out there, without much daylight left. |
 | Note | |
| |
| Went for a walk around Concord at night. My roomate went to bed at 7:45 and I got bored. this was about an hour, but not really training.. |
Wednesday Mar 10 |
 | Running 40:00 [3] | |
| |
| A short run, mostly exploring Concord some more. Over the train trestle only to realize that the road doesn't go anywhere unless I wanted to go on a good 12 mile run...not a good idea when it's already starting to get dark out...so I turned around and went home to an already made dinner by my wonderful roomate. |
Saturday Mar 6 |
 | Adventure race 2:30:00 [4] | |
| |
| Another great win. Raced with Joe again. This race was a bit faster and I was glad that I could ski, so I could get a little break from the running bit. A beautiful day and a great race! |
