Tuesday Jul 27

Running 40:00 [2]
Fairly easy "recovery" run around the so-called (by me) Trestle loop. It goes over an abandoned rail road trestle, if that's even how it's spelled.

Monday Jul 26

Hiking 20:00 [2]
Again, hiking at work.

Sunday Jul 25

Run/Hike 30:00 [3]
Run up Mt. Cardigan with Kristoffer. Short hike, but bald on top with views all the way to my home town! Crowded, though, being a Sunday. On the way down, we nearly flattened several groups that didn't hear us coming. oops.

Saturday Jul 24

Road biking 3:00:00 [3] 50.0 mi (3:35 / mi)
Long road ride with Kristoffer from Lebanon into VT, through some nice farms and quaint towns and back. I bonked near the end, but managed to finish fairly strong despite this being the longest training ride I've been on in a long time. Especially hammering the whole way to keep up!

Thursday Jul 22

Hiking 13 [3]
Hiking at work. with god knows how many pounds on my shoulders and back, espeically in this hot humid weather!

Yea yea, stupid entry, but seriously, this is a lot of work!

Wednesday Jul 21

Running (intervals) 1:04:00 [3]
ahr:160 max:184
Interval workout along Merrimack River. Ran over to the conservation area and did 4, 3, 2, 1 min ladder, down and up with half time recovery after each. If that makes any sense. Felt really good, actually.

Tuesday Jul 20

Road biking 33:00 [3]
Just a road ride. Finally got around to buying a second pair of eggbeaters (greatest pedal ever!) so now I can ride both bikes without having to swap pedals and cleats each time.
Felt good to be back on the road, surprisingly enough. Though I felt like I was riding L'Alpe D'Huez, just riding up the dinky little hills around Concord! Need to ride more hills......

Monday Jul 19

Running 40:00 [3]
ahr:179 max:162
Run in Walker SP. Suppose to be a recovery run, but I can never make myself do those, so this was more like a tempo run, whoops.

Saturday Jul 17

Adventure race (Genesis Sprint) 4:45:00 [4] 23.0 mi (12:23 / mi)
Waywayanda SP, NJ. Excellent course setting by Joe! Raced with a new partner (for me) Bryon who was very positive and motivational, much more so than what I'm used to. But we came in 1st, overall, smoking the competition on the navigation. The mtn bike leg was sweet due to lots of singletrack and super fast fire roads! Paddling, blah, don't like paddling. Great race, wish that I could do the next one... but WY here I come.

Monday Jul 12

Running 1:05:00 [3]
ahr:140 max:166
Run. Felt pretty good in the begining, but halfway through I started feeling like crap and was dragging ass the rest of the way. i guess it serves me right for not doing anything for the entire last week!

Saturday Jul 10

Mtn Biking 1:00:00 [2]
ahr:105 max:163
Easy mtn ride through the quarry's around concord. found a sweet spot overlooking the prison, cool.
Orienteering 54:20 [4]
ahr:167 max:184
Local meet at Ahern Park in Laconia. Red course was 5k with three "control clusters" that you could go to in any order. Good idea, it was a lot of fun sprinting around in these technical sections. It just felt good to get out in the woods and stretch my legs, not just running on the road.

Sunday Jul 4

Running (Road Race) 37:15 [5] 5.0 mi (7:27 / mi)
ahr:179 max:193
Ctr. Harbor 4th of July Road Race

A super hilly (the 2.5-4mi marks are straight up hill) yet fast (the last mile is downhill) road course. Planned on running with my dad as a "recovery run". Yea right. Set my personal best this year (though I haven't run it in 5 or 6 years) and came in 2nd female overall to my sister Tora, which I don't feel bad about, becuase this is what she does...she runs, so whatever, I feel pretty good about it.
However, my calf did not loosen up afterwards as I was hoping, though it felt fine during the race. I was able to power up the hills nicely, too, unlike many others.

Saturday Jul 3

Run/Hike 5:30:00 [3] 13.5 mi (24:26 / mi) +1650m 11:01 / km
A fun workout on one of the most beautiful places in NH. Got up early to the trailhead of the Bridle Path and headed up Mt. Lafayette. Got to Greenleaf hut in an hour. half hour more to the peak. Then over to Lincoln, Little Haystack, Liberty and finally Flume. Down Flume Slide trail and back up the Franconia bike path. Stopped for a swim in the river down there,,,talk about freezing cold snowmelt still! yikes.
Unfortunately, I should've waited unitl later inthe day, because the high mtns were still in teh clouds, 41 degrees at the summits with winds gusting to 60mph. I only thought once of cutting out and down, but then I got going and it was fine. By the time I got back down in the valley, the summits were completely clear...isn't that always the way? But that's what makes these things epic adventures...
Especially because, now, when I write this, I have the most painfully tight right calf muscle that I've ever had, and it won't go away. it will eventually.
Oh, and another thing...I grossly underestimated my water consumption and ran out of water half way through this run. Passing so many mountain streams, i wanted to drink out of them soooo badly, so I went swimming instead. Giardia isn't cool.

Friday Jul 2

Mtn Biking 1:33:00 [3]
ahr:143 max:170
Ride Massabessic trails. I don't usually like riding by myself, but today was awesome, so smooth and fun. It's a really technical singletrack place, but I felt good and seemed to be able to ride most things that I usually get frustrated about.
