Sunday Aug 29

Mtn Biking 1:00:00 [3]
Mtn bike ride with Kristoffer over many hills in Lebanon. Beautiful ride past hillside farms!

Saturday Aug 28

Adventure race 4:42:00 [4] 22.0 mi (12:49 / mi)
Pachaug, CT Genesis Sprint #6

We won!! After making some poor route choices on the bike leg, we were in 13th going into the paddle. But, racing with Bill, we flew through the kayak and made up about 8 minutes and passed several teams. Then a super quick TA, passing our big competition, team bear naked, we went into the trek section somewhere inteh top 5 I think. Got the first CP no problem, the next one we were a little off on, and Teams Bear Naked (co-ed) and Vegan (male) caught us. But here Joe said that we were in 1st place!! yay! That brightened my spirits, which were down due to heat and the earlier mistakes (and being behind so many teams). The next few CP;s we were with Vegan and we apparently lost Bear Naked who had a lot of trouble and the last CP. We came into the finish 1st, with Vegan only a few minutes behind. But after them, there was a huge gap of about half an hour. CP A was giving teams lots of problems, thanks Joe. ;) It's good to have tough nav at these races!

Wednesday Aug 25

Mtn Biking 1:15:00 [3]
Mtn Ride at Massabesic. Found a sweet new trail, lots of fun smooth switchbacks and rolling terrain. Beautiful..but I do feel out of riding shape, having not been on my bike for several weeks. Good to get out there before the race this weekend.

Tuesday Aug 24

Running 58:00 [3]
Run with Kristoffer to the Merrimack and back across the trestle. I was tired by the end, though and dragging back home, just on an "easy" run. I'm being whipped into shape now.

Monday Aug 23

Running 40:00 [3]
Run by myself, trying to do an easy run, but I can't seem to do this and ended up running faster than I was planning.

Sunday Aug 22

Kayaking 1:00:00 [2]
Paddling in Maine backfrom the island to the mainland. My arms and back were tired from yesterdays adventure.

Saturday Aug 21

Kayaking 2:30:00 [2]
Paddled over about 5 miles to Marshall Island, just south of Mt Desert Island, ME. Smooth going over, but once we bushwacked around the island looking for a non existant "abandoned" (but never built) airfield, the weather had turned and we had a rough time getting back. The fog was such that you couldn't see 10m around you and boats and islands were popping out of the fog right in front of us. The wind, too, blew us about a mile off course to the north, though better north than south and we'd end up in africa or something. But then we had to paddle into the wind and waves for that much longer, feeling like we weren't moving at all. But we made it back to our Enchanted Island, soaking wet and tired.

Friday Aug 20

Kayaking 1:10:00 [2]
Paddle out from Stonington, ME to find to Enchanted Island, a small deserted island off the coast.

Sunday Aug 8

Hiking 1:42:11 [2] 9.18 km (11:08 / km) +300m 9:34 / km
ahr:143
Day 5. Blister on my heel was rather debilitating and my stomache aching from something I ate didn't help either. I really don't think it was the beer. But, I ended up walking most of the course (which is actually quite pleasant with the gorgeous scenery!)

Saturday Aug 7

Running (Relay) 50:00 [4] 7.41 km (6:45 / km) +180m 6:01 / km
Leg 4 of UNO Relay with Johnny Bundshuh, Deb Humiston and Nancy Koehler. Fast course and my heel didn't hurt so bad so I could actually run!

Friday Aug 6

Running (Day 4) 1:16:48 [3] 6.96 km (11:02 / km) +265m 9:16 / km
ahr:157 max:182
Day 4. Heel blister hurts, ended up walking a lot of the course and even had to take my shoe off and walk/run the entire leg to #7! Spiked all the controls, though and still managed to have a good time.

Thursday Aug 5

Running 30:00 [3]
Easy run with Karen from the campground. Heel hurt some, and I probably shouldn't have gone out. Boris told me so. But it's so pretty out there! I wanted to see the sights...couldn't just sit around.

Wednesday Aug 4

Running (Day 3) 1:17:00 [4] 9.46 km (8:08 / km) +210m 7:20 / km
ahr:173 max:186
Day 3 of 1000 day. Day 2 of Team Trials. Long course.
I had a great time out there, despite making a few errors and some really poor route choices. Missed #5 by a few feet (didn't see it right away) and lost a few minutes. Missed #8 and lost another minute or so in the circle, but had a horrendous route choice to it so I probably lost a good 4 mins maybe? Everything else was real clean.

Tuesday Aug 3

Running (Day 2) 36:17 [4] 4.85 km (7:29 / km)
ahr:174 max:186
Day 2 of 1000 day, day 1 of Team Trials.
Spiked all except 2 and 6, but didn't lose much time, a little hesitant on 3 but ended up getting it no problem.

Monday Aug 2

Running (Superbum Sprint) 21:00 [4] 2.7 km (7:47 / km)
Fun little course, but messed up the second control pretty bad (for such a short course) Hesitant on 1 and 4 due ot the 1:10 scale, but otherwise was clean, no, I had a bad route to 10 as well...should've gone south around the cliff instead of north of it. Whatever.

Superbum Sprint - Splits

Sunday Aug 1

Running (Day 1) 1:13:48 [4] 7.26 km (10:10 / km) +255m 8:39 / km
ahr:165 max:178
The altitude defintely affected this race, I think! I had to walk up the first hill, a mere 200m into the race! And then I made several errors on #3, more on #5, #6 and then was just real slow on the rest.

Day 1 Red - Splits
