Wednesday Oct 27

Running 1:24:11 [3]
ahr:156 max:176
Fairly easy run, though it felt a lot harder than I was hoping for. I haven't run for a while, so it took me a bit to get into the swing of things again. Started the run around 5:20pm and definitely got caught in the dark, which isn't cool when on a busy road. But the amazingly full moon made it worth it, though I fell asleep before I could watch the eclipse.

Thursday Oct 21

Running 37:00 [3]
Easy run, just felt good to get out for a bit.

Sunday Oct 17

Note
Went for a 2.5 hour walk in the woods on Burnt Mtn map in Hanover, with Kristoffer. His ankle was really bothering him after the race yesterday, but we went out anyway. Felt good to move around a bit, but not too much!

Saturday Oct 16

Adventure race 5:15:00 [4] 21.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
Genesis Sprint Championship
Ringwood S.P. New Jersey/New York

Raced with Bryon for Timex. spent most of the race in 3rd overall, until the final 5 mile "trek" run where we passed the first two teams to finish first overall. We also won the series and got free entry to a 3 day stage race in Mexico!!
It's very cool to look back to the first race of this series and see how far I've come, how much I've learned about this AR stuff, in only a summer. And I'm still learning.

Tuesday Oct 12

Running 37:00 [3]
Recovery run (a few days later)....

Sunday Oct 10

Note
Slept off and on between packing and driving, super dehydrated and kind of sick to my stomache after living on clif bars and gels for so long. My feet are killing me and I think my toes are going to fall off!

Saturday Oct 9

Adventure race 16:33:00 [4]
Balance Bar 24hour, Ringwood, NY/NJ

Started at 7:30am
Finished at 12:04am

Unofficial 11th place in co-ed category. Race went alright, made some nav errors on orienteering section and mtn bike, otherwise race was slow due to inexperience and injuries. We'll win next time. ;-)
Very cool to be racing with top teams in the country and world. and especially to out-nav them!

Breakdown:
16k orienteering (orange level sort of score-o style)
32 mile mtn. bike (road and trails)
4 mile hike a bike (with some rock climbing involved)
9 mile paddle (3person kayaks)
16 mile trek (at night)

Friday Oct 8

Adventure race 8:30 [5]
Balance Bar 24 hour Prologue, Manhattan, NYC

Raced on and around the Intrepid, a decommissioned aircraft carrier docked in Manhattan. Included a rappel into the hudson River (really gross) from the flight deck, swim 75m to climb up a cargo net, run along catwalks to a zipline, back into the water, climb up onto the dock and sprint to the finish. Finished around 4th/53 teams!! (These are unofficial results)

Tuesday Oct 5

Mtn Biking 50:00 [3]
mtn ride at Massabesic, was riding like a champ!!! All the switchbacks and hills and tight spots were nothin'! Just hope that I feel the same way this weekend...

Sunday Oct 3

Mtn Biking 1:00:00 [3]
Mtn ride with Kristoffer at Oak Hill, site of Dartmouth's Nordic ski Carnival. Road some of those hills and still can't believe that we ski down them (sometimes without falling!)
Running 30:00 [3]
About a 30 min woods run, until Kristoffer twisted his ankle real bad. I ended up carrying him out of the woods (we were almost 1.5 miles in). Hopefully he gets better by next weekend!???

Friday Oct 1

Running 53:00 [3]
Night run w/ Kristoffer on the rails to trails up in Lebanon. Beautiful night, running along looking up at the stars..
