Orienteering race 2:16:00 [4] 13.9 km (9:47 / km)

Running on not a whole lot of sleep and not a whole lot of training and certainly no map-reading. Still a fun jaunt in the woods!
Started off blasting through the woods, got caught by Alison C. on the road run to #1, tried to stick with her but to no avail. My foot speed is just not quick these days. Dropped steadily off the back of the pack containing Alison, Marie, Balter, Linder and by 4 i was pretty much alone. Just after 5 i caught up with Kristoffer, who's leg speed is about like mine right now. We ended up running/jogging/walking the rest of the way, making this race seem more like a rogaine! It was great! No big nav errors, other than 18 where we went off the trail too low and just were slow in getting up to where the control was due to extremely poor footing. the wet rocks out there were treacherous!
Bit sore today, not as bad as kristoffer, though. I'm grateful that i did some long runs last weekend to prep my body for this suffering! ;)

Run/Hike 40:00 [3] 2.9 mi (13:48 / mi)

Had to drive to concord today to deliver some plans. Since I've already gotten in a bulk of my 40hrs this week, I decided to take an extended lunch break to go up Kearsarge Mtn on the way back to the office. There are two trails from this particular parking lot, one is 1.8mi, the other is 1.1mi. I've been up these before and knew they were both pretty rough bit that the longer one is slightly more runnable. Well, I think they've both gotten much worse over the past few years or else I'm really out of trail running coordination! It was terrible! I hardly ran any of it, up or down. But oh yes, I was still breathing!! HR monitor wasn't working but I'm sure it was way up there. Probably didn't help that I had just eaten lunch or was wearing new road shoes that I think are too big for me. So, I made it up and down, with a brief stop at the top to take in the view and cool down, with little problem. As I got down to the bottom, I took he short trail down, it flattened out just a bit, just enough for me to stretch out the legs and pick up some speed, and fall flat on my face!! I think I slid for a good 2-3 ft! It was so ironic, I was laughing to myself for quite a few mins afterwards. Silly. That's always the way it is though. When you're paying the least attention, when all the hard parts are over!
Got back to work without further issue and wrappd up my day with some drainage calcs and coffee. Then off to swim!

Swimming (Masters) 1:00:00 [3]

Definitely felt more tired going to the 6pm session then the 6:30 am session. Weird. Work was a bit stressfull today, and I had already worked out, perhaps that's why. Felt good to swim. Hadn't been in too long. And I think my little bit of strength training is helping!
