Orienteering Event, 10 Mila 3rd leg, Skepptuna.
What a race! Went through a range of emotions during it, too!
First, things went very well despite being mostly alone. I thought "This is easy!", relaxed too much, took a drink from my belt and promtly lost 2.5 min on the 8th control. Lost another 1 min a few controls later. At this point Tove came crashing up behind me with a large train. Later, at the 17th I left the train when they wobbled a bit and got a 30 sec lead on them. I ran off towards 18, expecting them to follow me. They didn't. Leaving 19 control, I saw that I had over a 1 min lead on them. Weeee! After a little deliberation, I decided to go "straight" to 21. A poor choice, and more poorly executed. Back in the open woods, I saw the train running to 21 from the field to the North. They had gained about 1 min on me. In the fields back to 24 I could see them ahead, but could not catch up despite effort. Tired and with only one other straggler for the last few controls, I lost another 1.5 min.
Overall, very happy with the good parts of the race. Disappointed though that I did not keep focus - then I would have had a race to be proud of.
The following map is not the proper map - it doesn't show the variations of green, for example.
