Sunday May 25

Running 27:30 [2]
ahr:133 max:151 shoes: Asics GT-2120
didnt feel like going out today, but thought I should get the legs turning over and see what they could cope with after fridays fun run.
easy run down to hunter's bar, along through endcliffe into bingham. did hill set, run along then did wooded hill rep. then did drills and ran home from bingham, up riversdale and through campus.
Running hills 5:35 [5]
ahr:161 max:173 shoes: Asics GT-2120
hill reps on the steep grassy slope in bingham, near the roundabout. did 5 reps up to the top of the bowling greens.
about 30seconds effort and a bit less on recovery, running down.
then did one longer rep in the woods up to the main contouring path (mainly to get away from the public to do drills)
didnt really have any speed in the legs but felt good strength and power-wise which I was pleased with.
Running (drills) 9:20 [3]
ahr:143 max:166 shoes: Asics GT-2120
did a nice long set of drills and strides in bingham / whitham woods
included the weird drills we did at club intevals in Goteborg in January. I couldnt do them to save my life then, was just about getting them right today but felt odd as I dont do them regularly.

Saturday May 24

Note
(rest day)
had a lazy day. didnt see much of the morning, went for a walk in the afternoon then Feeder at Leadmill in the evening. awesome.

Friday May 23

Running long 2:35:00 [3]16.3 mi (9:31 / mi) +400m 5:29 / km
ahr:147 max:175 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'
post exam long run.
met gaz and ba-ba at hunters bar, then set off up porters clough. had to stop at the top cos my LSD pace was too quick for gaz and nic wasnt too happy either. carried on into burbage mines to get more complaints so decided it would be best for me to go ahead and knock out a good pace on my own. cut straight across burbage mines/marsh and crossed the road to the main burbage moor, along the peat bog path to burbage edge, along to burbage bridge, up and along stanedge, doubled back to stanedge pole, down to redmires, up and over to the head stone, through the wood to Rivelin Dam, straight up the steep slope to the top path and lo behold who did I run into, Gaz and nic after they cut straight to redmires/wyming brook from stanedge pole. I ran with them for 5min then decided to push on to the end. followed along by the golf course, then cut in to main road, down car sick hill road, gladstone road, fullwood road, and in through broomhill.

not the epic route I had originally thought of, that can wait for another day, but still a really good run. was quite atmospheric with it being all grey and cloudy. one took one tumble, which is pretty good for me ;)
top of my foot was pretty sore for the whole run today...just tried to ignore it :S

Thursday May 22

Running warm up/down 24:00 [2]
ahr:143 max:167 shoes: Asics GT-2120
run into broomhill with fazzingbum, down to endcliffe park, into the woods, and back up the hill with the troops.

saw the lazy arse that is ba-ba walking somewhere gay as we were getting back up westbourne road (although, in fairness, we are going for an epic, fully clothed mission run tomorrow, so rest is probably wise)
(2points, 7 total)
Running intervals 25:00 [5]
ahr:149 max:179 shoes: Asics GT-2120
Intervals around the short wooded loop, in threes, so fairly long recovery.
two sections, one of 30sec effort and one of 65sec. no idea how many reps I did...lost count, but it was 25min sesion.
stretched off by the monument afterwards. we were joined by some local folk tonight too, one of whom was pretty rapid.

didnt quite feel right today...weird feeling in my throat, not sore throat feeling, kind of dry thirsty feeling, as if I'd just had some dry gin or something. odd :S

Wednesday May 21

Running warm up/down 6:00 [2]
shoes: Asics GT-2120
run to goodwin with fazingbum and ba-ba
Orienteering warm up/down 23:00 [2]
ahr:138 max:160 shoes: Silva K120
warm up with magic, and warm down with magic and shane, revisiting number 2.
Orienteering (Spring Cup round 6) 36:45 [4]*** 5 km (7:21 / km)
ahr:170 max:183 spiked:15/18c shoes: Silva K120
Loxely Spring Cup

pretty good course, onyl a few bits of boring running, onyl really lost significant time in three places: #2, didnt realise the sadle was what it was and turned right even though I was straight on line for the control. #6 I took, what was the biger track on the map (actually smaller on the ground :S ) and then got the what should have been an open field to run down and it turned out to be head-high brambles - lost over a minute from having to run round. #17 I got right up to the depression and didn't see the boulder or control so milled around losing at least another minute.

quite good run, annoying to lose the time I did, pushed reasonably hard, which is a first for me in the Spring Cup.

Tuesday May 20

Note
(rest day)
feeling pretty wiped out at the moment and have a lot of learning to be doing, so dont think maximum effort at the track is a good plan...

Monday May 19

Running warm up/down 24:00 [3]
ahr:135 max:178 shoes: Asics GT-2120
Run to goodwin with fazza, warm up, warm down, then ran half of way home with ba-ba and fazza. saw Kathy Van Hee on way home (1 point -> 5 total)
Circuits 40:00 [3]
ahr:118 max:165 shoes: Asics GT-2120
felt shattered today, it was really hard after 3 weeks off too, but put in fair amount of effort, was still grindin out more than faz and nic on the later exercises.
