Note
(sick)

Oh dear, feeling dodgy again. Hugo has had 2 colds in 2 weeks and I am no different it would seem. Disappointing that I am catching everything he does (probably my fault for training too hard too soon Mon/Tue) but at least they are not hitting me hard.

Walking hills (xc/terrain) 1:43:25 [1] 7.9 km (13:05 / km)
shoes: k'mor tempo 5 trail - 1st pair

Knee rehab training with 12.2kg pack and Nick (he walked alongside, it was just the pack that I put on my back).

It was pretty obvious how good it was for the weak muscles on my bad knee leg to go hiking in the Lakes. I reckon with walking it is probably easier to control the output of the legs and ensure that both are putting in the same amount of effort. When running there is this tendency for the good leg to do more and if that's all one does then the bad leg will surely be lagging behind forever, or a long time at least. Of course the sheer amount of mountain ascent was a good muscle-building factor too.

After discussing this with Nick he agreed that hill walking would probably also be good for his long-term knee problem. So we met up and walked up and down the ski slope and around the hilly forest next to his house. No favouring the left leg today like with the hill session on Monday, just tried to do things evenly like I did in the Lakes.

Was pretty shocked when I finally weighed the rucksack, it really didn't feel like that much. Of course it was a lot more in the Lakes what with the Winter sleeping bag, tent and cooker etc, probably more like 15-20kg so no wonder it felt light today in comparison.

Reflexbanan with Christian. Pretty tired all-round from yesterday, guess it wasn't such a great idea to train two days in a row after two weeks of illness. Took it pretty easy.

11 AM

Running (road/xc) 20:35 [3] 3.6 km (5:43 / km)
ahr:145 max:159 shoes: k'mor tempo 5 trail - 1st pair

Was going to be a medium trail route but that was closed due to works. Re-routed to the big hill instead.

Running hills (xc/terrain) 23:55 [3] 2.1 km (11:23 / km) +250m 7:08 / km
ahr:148 max:165 shoes: k'mor tempo 5 trail - 1st pair

Big hill 5 reps.

Tried to hop/bounce off the left leg on the way up and tried to keep the weight off the right leg on the way down. In other words tried to simulate with the bad leg what it was like for the good leg when I started running again after the op.

Running (xc/terrain) 20:45 [3] 2.6 km (7:59 / km)
ahr:148 max:163 shoes: k'mor tempo 5 trail - 1st pair

Back home via some more hills.
