Orienteering race 42:10 [3]

JK Relays. Out of sorts as i'd had to hump the tent and only had David, Jamie and Colin to help get it up. bill and Barbars came late so at the last moment I had to run first leg! Forgot my cap and by the time we were on the start line it weas snowing heavily!! Found all the controls spot on but VERY slow. not an enjoyable race due to the weather and my state of mind. The kids were 2nd in the mini relay though so that cheered me up!!

Orienteering race 42:52 [4]

Found it a tough one up the run in today - it was all uphill. Set myself targets beforehand - walk to the turning and then try to run to the finish. Succeeded, but very slow and lost 20 seconds to the winner!! I'd only been 2 seconds down at the last control. Hit all the other controls okay, but found some of the descents into streams and gullies rather difficult. Got covered in mud! Unfortunately Anne lost her SI card so was DSQ'd. 2nd overall and the only one at the prize giving.

Orienteering race 40:10 [4] 3.3 mi (12:10 / mi) +100m 11:07 / mi

A good race apart from problems at number 5. Started well as the ground was runnable and spiked first 3 controls. Number 5 was in a complex area, and I was actually short of the control. Ran about a bit headless chicken for a minute or so then relocated off a small hut, and luckily saw Chris who was moving confidently. Had a break at control 7 when I was in the area but saw a young lad disappear into a gully which was mine! Clean from there to the end but slow going up the hill to 9. Anne is my nemesis yet again. 2 and a half minutes down. She is just so good technically. Have two others less than a minute behind me. i'm almost last starter tomorrow, just Hazel off after me and she is hot on my heels. Must do as well as last year when I was third overall despite having a horrendous second day.

Event: JK 2008

Orienteering race (JK Sprint Race) 21:52 [5]

A great race. Fantastic atmosphere with over 1000 competitors. Needed 100% concentration all the way, which unfortunately I didn't do. Wrong route to number1, although safe. Then had horrendous problems with number 9 when I lost contact with the map completely!! After eventually sorting it out then made another route choice error from 10 to the spectator control. Despite this finished 6th and beat Miriam for the first time for ages. Pleased to have faster times than Sue and Liz who were in the W60 class on the same course.
