Orienteering 1:15:40 [3] 8.66 km (8:44 / km) +144m 8:04 / km
shoes: VJ Sticky

Started out OK but major disaster struck on long leg. Came across a W14 looking very worried shortly after I got to the main track. Let her know where she was and started to head off but notice she headed the wrong direction. Called her back and set her straight and continued, then thought I should warn her that I would turn off before she needed to. In all this, lost where I was and overshot my departure point completely lost contact and lead this poor girl astray. Righted myself but had to go via her control just to be safe... Then really messed up the end of my leg to top it off! Overshot 7 and a bit of a direction issue going to 15.

Other than that reasonably OK. Need to be a lot stronger and fitter and netter at running.

Very happy to finish the day with no ankle braces and no ankle twists! First for well more than a decade (apart from yesterday).

VE with Aoife. She made a great start but did not read map properly leaving 3. I let her go for a few hundred metres before questioning what we were doing. Turned back and arrived back at 3 in time to meet up with Tracy and Kari. I thought this might bring on a case of the grumps but she took it OK and continued on.

Took a cross country shortcut between 6 and 7 - I think that was the fastest part of her race. Then started to follow Jock into the bush leaving 7 before I suggested he might not be on our course.

Orienteering 42:35 [3] 5.71 km (7:27 / km) +42m 7:11 / km

Awful start. Tried using the glasses again but they just give me tunnel vision and I can't see anything. Got to 2 before 1, what a day! Rest was OK although a bit off on direction a few times (6 and 13 especially). 18 was a disaster - did not recover from a simple bad departure from 17. Very tired by the end.

Happy to do the whole course with no ankle braces and no problems as a consequence.

Run (Intervals) 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km) +5m 5:58 / km
shoes: Kayano 20 Purple

Made it to intervals, finally and against the odds of the day/week. Took it fairly easily as unfit and recovering from illness earlier in week. short intervals for me. 9 in total with an interruption early on to locate a sulky child. A session to improve on!

1 medium,1 sort, 1 distraction, 2 short, rest then 5 short.
