Orienteering 20:33 [3] 3.02 km (6:49 / km) +55m 6:14 / km
shoes: Kayano - narrow ones

Loved this race - especially the start. Easy rock controls seemed to trouble others. I just had to be VERY careful in runners. Walked most of the first part but nailed it all. Was running OK (for me) through the course, but got thrown coming into map-flip by what I saw as a garden bed but not mapped as such. That then threw me so I made poor route choice and execution on next leg, poor route on following leg compounded by being under rather than on the bridge, still fuming, messed the next 2. By then it was well and truly over and I took a silly safe route to 3rd last, needed to recover more quickly and keep going for it after the mistakes. Feeling OK physically so happy with that. Again room to improve but I am just starting the recovery from past few months.

A bit disappointing today, I did OK but still a lot pf room to improve both physically and mentally. It was annoying though that there was so much dead running when I know every step running on track i am losing time. Also some of the controls were bordering on inane - 2 on top of hills, one with a rubbish dump as an attack point, one with the attack point visible from 200 m away... Still I could not capitalise on these so can't complain too much. Also as attackpoint splits show, my only mistake was 9s on the last control - stupid of me!

Tight competition in the W45 class, lucky the sprint race was decisive enough that the 9s did not count for an overall place.

Quite a scrappy run, bits of time lost throughout being careful when there was no need. I felt I was running someone else's course backwards as most controls were very visible on the near side of features. Came unstuck on 14 where I took to 'courageous' (stupid) straight route rather than follow the track... Also very hesitant on last as I did not want to run down hill away from the finish, knowing I'd have to come straight back up. Happy to feel a bit stronger in the terrain again and able to keep my wits about me (relative to recent months), still need to focus better though! Glasses are getting more manageable too.

Yoga 1:30:00 [3]

Not sure if I can convince myself to do this again. Very tough going today. 40 degrees and 52% humidity is what the thermometer said when we finished. Light headed and shaky now. Felt I was a bit more able in the stretching, but shoulder strength and ability to keep clear head in the heat makes it hard.

shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw

Red Hill - nice day out but my lungs and legs were not ready for the hills! Found it hard work physically but relatively straightforward course. Biggest mistake was at 3 where I was looking for an erosion gully (found a ditch) instead of a termite mound.

Various exercise 5:00 [3]

Parent helper "dance-off" after the school athletics carnival. So they seriously expect public humiliation of parent and child will encourage future volunteering???

Not sure if sore glutes are from that or all the shot put retrievals I did. Tough work trying to judge throw legality and peg landing spots and collect the shots...
