Very happy to get out on the map today, not happy with my run. I knew I was going well up to 3, and also knew that as soon as I thought that, trouble was brewing, and so it did. Lost a heap of time (13 minutes!) and confidence on 4, then more on 6, and I thought 7. For 7, I wasn't that much slower than Eoin and he was OK compared to the winners of my class. Could definitely have finished in much less time if I had not stuffed 4.

We have been stuck in Oslo, with Aoife sick virtually since we left Adelaide. We took it easy Saturday and Sunday, but not enough. After a bit of a scary night on Sunday, Eoin went out and found a Dr in the local (city) shopping centre who saw us within a couple of hours. A very thorough examination, instructions to stay in Oslo and daily blood tests ensued. So the planned holiday schedule was suspended again, pending improvement. Aoife was less feverish and appeared better yesterday, but the blood test was worse (apparently that's normal after the fever drops!) and she crashed when we tried an afternoon outing. By this morning, there was a slight improvement in the test and though the nurse was keen we stay in Oslo she Ok'd leaving but come back if necessary. We quickly booked a flight to Haugesund, arranged a hire car and made it to the event right on time. It was a rush to get to the start and I had to go straight to the maps, but all good!

Now we just have to get her to eat, recover and rebuild some strength and stamina.

Nat was the source of motivation to get us out in the rain. Glad we did!

And glad Nat brought her Lights. Hopefully we won’t need them when we get to do this again!
