Swim 30:33 [3] 1.4 km (21:49 / km) +4m 21:32 / km

Possibly one of the stupidest things I have ever done. So tough and I was seriously under prepared. The wisest preparation had been spending $112 on Wiggle for a wetsuit.

Fortunately the swim was relocated from the crushing g breakers on the south facing beach to the north beach where it was relatively calm (relatively!).

I was never so happy to see seaweed as I was to spot a bit on the sand coming back in. So glad to see the bottom. I tried to stand up 3 times before it was actually shallow enough.

Aoife swam well. She was 3rd out of the water for u14 but did not realise the need to run to the finish line, so was pipped on the line itself. Hopefully lesson learnt!

Not sure what my gps was doing. The course was 1.4km. Kind of an elongated square. The long edges swimming out into and back from the deep blue sea.

Really nice Black Moutain loop from the rowing shed. Counting the days until I never HAVE to visit here at regular intervals again. It is a good loop though so need to work out how to do similar from home, or go on the occasional excursion. Should give up trying the steep uphill single track. Don’t think I’ll ever make it up there without walking.

Beautiful vistas today with so much green on the mountain and further afield, topped off by the procession of about 20 air balloons floating over the lake!

Swim 36:00 [3] 1.5 km (24:00 / km)

Last minute training. I am feeling better, new goggles were great for not letting water in, but painful!

Opportunity was there so I went to street series event nearby. Hard work, trying to hold onto Mace at the start, and the. When she came past again midway through. Did the B course, but not optimal route choice as I wanted to run through Gossan Hill, plus get the control in front of our house...
Ran OK.
