Running 30:00 [3]

Hammies still a bit tight, but I couldn't resist a Summer Series in Killarney Heights. Enjoyed running around familiar territory for half an hour before the right one started to feel a little tight, and I backed off and trotted home.

Mostly in the streets this one. I resisted the temptation to take a massive shortcut thru' the backyard of my house. Fun.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Evening cruise around Red Hill while Annika trained at Narrabeen. Hammies still tired from Sunday, but a nice run.

Running at Red Hill is a lot more fun since I made the rogaine map, as it opens up the wiggly tracks without fear of getting lost in the maze and stuck out in the dark.

Running 35:00 [3]

Slow Barangaroo trot to loosen the hammies. Gee they clearly aren't used to 10kers. Stiff but ok.

Took annika to a new chiro this morning to look at her back issue. Recommended by her coach, he was in Rio with the jav throwers. Sure knows his stuff. Good find.

Running (Bare Creek Trail Run) 43:19 [3] 10.0 km (4:20 / km)

I went for fish and chips in Manly last night with Annika. While showing her something stupid/amusing on fb I noticed an event for the Bare Creek Trail Run next morning. Decided to do it, because why not. Went home, set the alarm for 6 pleased to have already carb loaded on chips.

Run started near Acron Oval in St Ives, with a narrow gate after 100m for a few hundred people to squeeze thru. Was quick off the mark and cleared the gate, before settling in as I was in front of Glenn Horrocks and that felt back to front.

First 3km was downhill towards the Cascades. Lots of fun stretching out with gravity assist, and settled behind Glenn and slowly let him drift away - less than I thought necessary which was pleasing.

I took the flat 1km down the bottom sensibly as I knew the Quarry Hill climb to come was going to sting. A convenient little out and back at 4km told me I was in about 12th.

I picked up a couple of dudes on the hill, and caught by Richard Morris (Ecmo's brother) who I figured was good for a chat and pacer for a bit.

From the top of the hill its a few km on firetrail b4 2k at the end on pinchy climb road. Was 8th when I hit the road and stayed there to the end. Glenn was about 4th I think,

An enjoyable course, and very pleased to get around in that time given recent training efforts. Good for the motivation to structure a bit of running again.

Evening Bantry Bay trot with Annika.

Running 45:00 [3]

Fairyland loop from Rotary while Annika threw javelins

Running 1:20:00 [3]

Commited to an Anzac bridge lunch loop to ensure there was no option to cut short. Switched between pleasant cruise and hot muggy grind depending on whether I was in the breeze or not for 45min. I ran in to Jonno in Blackwattle Bay and tempo'd home with him for half an hour to finish a more solid run than intended.

Discovered the café downstairs does berry smoothies at the end. How ddI not know that?

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Hot lunch run around Barangaroo, and then wharfies @ Pyrmont. 5 * usual rep. 2:10;2:04;1:59;1:56;1:56. Surprisingly accurate guesses for the split on each.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Tempo session around Bobin Head. Moving better than expected but reckon Id bonk if I tried to hold as race pace without the occasional rest bit.

Running 1:45:00 [3]

Outcome of Friday pints was agreement to do hills in Hornsby on Saturday morning with Jono. He of course pulled out at 8am, but I used the tinge of motivation to go anyway.

A hot run thru' to Galston gorge with some nice hills to remind me the fitness needs work. Fun.

Other (Sailing) 2:00:00 [3]

13" Skiff race at Manly with Tom as my usual crew Annika was away in Engonnia (working at an indigenous school, literally the back of Bourke).

Big step up for the 40kg Tom to steer the skiff but he did well, and I woke up Sunday morning suitably stiff and sore from a rough and tumble afternoon on the wire man-handling the big kite.

Running 45:00 [3]

Hmmm. Attackpoint tells me it's been 2 years since I logged any kind of structured training. Time to rectify......

Lunch run with Jono around Barangaroo. A fast 8km, with a couple of pints in Pyrmont before running back to the office. Nice to stretch the legs again.
