Kayak 1:30:00 [3]

Start of the sailing season. (Already). Tapped out some laps on the Spark while Tom trained up his new 7 year old crew. Great to be back on the water.

Other (Sailing) 1:20:00 [3]

Im claiming this 'cause Im so stiff today. I jumped on the Flying 11 for the afternoon race with Tom, as Annika has softball commitments on Sunday arvo until the States in November. I baggsed the tiller.

Fantastic way to spend a couple of hours with the boy, who has enough experience now to be giving me tips on driving the boat.

Toe hurts.

Running 2:07:00 [3]

Super-wet run with Andy from mine around the top of Middle Harbour. Relaxed pace and lots of fun slopping around until I kicked a rock and now have a big red toe.

Running 1:20:00 [3]

Ferry to Manly for First Aid course at the sailing club, and then ran home thru the Dam. I know it has been raining, but was suprised to find myself in knee deep water on the firetrail at the end of the NOSH course.

Interesting to note at the First Aid course "DR ABC" has become
"DRS ABCD"

Running 50:00 [3]

Like mis-timing a surf launch, I headed out during a lull in the rain but got smashed by a heavy downpour just as a I got outside. 25 reps on Walsh Bay stairs and a 5min effort around the wharves to keep warm.

Cycling 1:20:00 [3]

Cycled to and from Gav (physio) in Hunters Hill to the city.

Running 2:15:00 [3]

Hadn't planned to run today, but a plan evolve thru a series of texts on Saturday night while at the Terrey Hills tavern.

Firstly got a msg that the nsw regional softball trials were cancelled, then a note that Annika's backup plan jav training was canned and finally a note that Andy & Ondrej were running from Warimoo.

DId the usual loop, with a bonus climb to Kalkari. Felt better than expected backing up.

Running 2:15:00 [3]

A succesful exploration run from Morgan Rd in Belrose, when at 3rd attempt I finally found the 'missing link' trail which creates a northern exit from Oxford Falls at Mona Vale rd, thereby opening the door to all sorts of interesting loops.

Track was better than expected to - 4~5km of nice single trail, with some old wooden constructions suggesting it was once the playground of downhill MTB'ers.

Popped out the top, and then ran thru to the Wildflower gardens, and then home down the Quarry track.

Some tired looking oxfam puppies out there with a long way to go.

Running 2:00:00 [3]

Nipped out to catch the front of the Oxfam event come past home, with Jono running in a snappy team with Brendan Davies and a couple of other chaps. Ran up the river to see them come past (and take a snap) at the pretty water crossing, then ran a different way to catch them again at the Kilarrney Beach waterfall. Looped around the Currie Rd firetrail to intercept them for the last time at the Ararat Oval CP, then trotted home. Fun.

Running 45:00 [3]

Short and sweet. 25 reps of Walsh Bay stairs.

Sunday Aug 17, 2014 #

Running 32:30 [3]

Twilight dash around the local Killarney loop at the end of a busy weekend. Bewdiful time of day to be out.

Saturday Aug 16, 2014 #

Running 2:55:00 [3] 33.0 km (5:18 / km)

Saturday morning coastal adventure with Bull. Bull's chick Katie kindly drove us from their place in Edgecliff to La Perouse, and the little castle from Mission Impossible 2 at the point. Ran up the coast along the route I did with Andy a couple of months ago with a slightly more efficient route (as in more scenic) 2nd time around.

Considered going around the back of the Malabar rifle range until a lovely chap with limited teeth and a shooting jacket suggested that mightnt be a great idea as they were shooting today.

Got to Bondi in good time, then ran the City to Surf course (pretty much) in reverse back to Bulls and a couple of Fat Yaks on L28 overlooking the city.

Fun.

Running 1:15:00 [3]

Enjoyed yesterday's run to Manly, so I did it again. Must be one of the wallaby richest commutes in this part of the world.

Thursday Aug 14, 2014 #

Running 1:15:00 [3]

Running commute down to Manly and fast ferry to work on a stunning morning. A bit different doing the manly dam trails in the light and sober. Finished up the beach ocean side under the watch of a cracking surf.

Monday Aug 11, 2014 #

Running 45:00 [3]

Afternoon set of 20 stairs adjacent to Pier 1.

Someone important must be next door today. Street full of cops, ambulance et al with helicopters overheard, and tarps covering the ground floor windows of the Intercontinental.

Update: Turns out said person next door is John Kerry.

Sunday Aug 10, 2014 #

Running 33:04 [3]

Tapped out an evening Killarney loop with the ayup after a sailing morning and softball afternoon.

The moon was so stunning, I stopped and sat on a rock with light off for 10min to soak up the serenity.

"Monsta, 3pm tommoz at the Roy, bit of puff. Deano"

Have been looking to get back on the ski after a period of upper body neglect. The above text from Dean to his paddle squad seemed like a good place to start, Puff it certainly did.

Running 3:20:00 [3] 34.0 km (5:53 / km)

Refer to Andy and Brooners log for a writeup of this one.

They say you can learn something from every run if you pay attention. Picked up a few things from this one:-
- Hoegaarden bottles with their narrow neck to keep the froth under control are a good shape for running.
- Lads from Prague run faster the more beer u put in them.
- it is quite feasible to run long without water.
- it is acceptable to enter Bavarian bars In lycra shorts and order pretzls.
- pretzels would be an awesome AR food.
- Friday night long runs free up the weekend
- there are few things more fun than running technical trails at night and talking sh*t with your mates.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Have reverted to riding a re-purposed MTB, as the old commuter has been ridden in to the ground. I really should swap the MTB tyres off the commuting wheels - noticeably slower.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Andy Hill commute. After an unplanned pub stop after work, I realised that my car was in Gladesville for pickup post service and would need it in the morning.

11pm ride thru Darling Harbour and up Victoria Rd. Chilly.

Tuesday Aug 5, 2014 #

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]

Starting to get the commute going again slowly. Really should ride more often - very pleasant.

Monday Aug 4, 2014 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Tried to go to ourimbah for a mtb ride on the bank holiday, enjoying a day off while the kids were at school for a change. Sure enough, an hour up the freeway school called aasking to collect a sick Tom. grr.

Made do with a short ride around red hill later in the day.

Sunday Aug 3, 2014 #

Running 1:20:30 [3] 20.0 km (4:02 / km)

In the spirit of trying to ignore work more, will see if i can get the AP routine going again.

Have been doing intervals on the track at Homebush on Sunday mornings for a while now while Annika trains javelin. Decided this week to do a bit of a fitness test around the broader olympic park environs, and held up OK. The tight ankle that was proving problematic earlier in the year seems to be sorting itself out finally.

2nd trip to homebush for the weekend after catching the 'tahs win last night.
