Cycling 50:00 [2]

Recovery spin on the windtrainer up the Col Agnol after kids in bed.

Absolutely knackered today. Up late helping Katrin pack, then early up to get to the airport. Nice waterslide session at Ryde pool afterwards.

Kayak 1:45:00 [4]
shoes: Sea Vanquish

Same paddle as last saturday, but with some intervals on the way back from the pipeline. 4:40, 5:00,4:20,5:00. Technique felt much better than last paddle.

Water very clear. Watched a large weird catfish type thing cruise by.

Running 55:00 [3]

Magazines loop with a bit extra on the road to finish. Pretty cruisy.

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]

Timed an Akuna Loop to finish just before dark. Rode a few sections reasonably solid.

Running 1:15:00 [3]

Drove to beginning of bush track in castlecove and ran to work from there. Felt shyte to begin with - tired legs & grumbly gut. Improved to feeling mediocre after a little bti and stayed there the rest of the way in.

Gym 40:00 [3]

Lats are getting stronger.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

No traffic, extra public transport & streets full of happy young people clapping.

Cycling 50:00 [5]

Rode close to flat out to Castle Cove where the van was. Kirribilli climb hurt.

Kayak 1:05:00 [4]
shoes: Viper K1

K1-tervals. 20 min w.u (waited until the fingers defrosted) then 1,2,3,4-4,3,2,1 min ladder with half interval time recovery.

Case study on the detrimental effect of slouching on paddling ability. Noticed I was sitting with slouched lower back after the first couple. Straightened up and rotation improved heaps immediately.

Another cracker morning by the end.

Running 35:00 [3]

Squeezed in a run between kids going to bed and The Gruen Transfer. Didnt feel like plodding around the streets, so did some 100m run thrus up at the oval.

Quite enjoyed The Hollowmen, but its not as good as Frontline. Merrick as an actor is weird.

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Reasonably quick ride in. Late start after dropping kids at Tennis Camp meant I missed the chilly part of the morning & got to enjoy the bewdiful part of the day. Can't complain about the weather Sydney has put on the past month.

Did some feasiblity testing of a handsfree phone setup for Katrin's 24hr in Canada next week on last night's ride, so she can be in contact with pit-crew (I'm not going this time).

Got the bluetooth handsfree and voice controlled dialling working a treat, but windnoise thru' the microphone was pretty loud for the person at the other end. Will try a little windcover for the microphone tomorrow.

Gotta love technology. Also discovered I can get a local number setup in Canmore that forwards to my phone here in Aus for 10 bucks. Pit crew will have no excuse not to keep me up to date during the race.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Rushed ride home with Katrin via CastleCove to collect kids. Complicated car/kid juggle. Seem to get home with all cars and kids.

Gym 45:00 [3]

Stayed a bit longer than planned. Late for a meeting, oops.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Legs not too bad after the weekend. Nice to have got some more running in to the schedule.

Eerily quiet in the city. A gaggle of catholics and a donkey appeared to have replaced the usual commuters in Martin Place.

I liked Ricco's comments after his stage win - "I was impressive".

Cycling 1:05:00 [3]

Ride home. Pushed up a few of the hills. Leg power felt good. Hammered a Chicken in a Biscuit box on arrival.
