Running 1:03:00 [3]

River loop. Glorious morning and legs felt good, so a most enjoyable run. Stretched out on the road thru' Killarney at the end - 3K @ 10:30. Focusing on running relaxed.

Big slushy hail storm afterwards. Balcony was basically covered in snow - close enough to real snow to be one of the highlights of the kids lives.

Cycling 47:00 [4]

Midnight session on the windtrainer with 5*2min high-resistance intervals, 1 min rec.

Multitasking session. Intervals while watching the Tour and with phone to hand supporting Katrin's support crew in Canada.

Katrin came 2nd in the 24 Hour solo worlds behind Rebecca Rusch. Pretty epic weekend. The course was always going to be tough - 2100ft of climb per 20k lap and very rooty. But the weather made it all rather hard core. After a couple of hours thunderstorms started to come through turning the steep and technical track in to a quagmire. By midnight there was a 30min section of muddy hike a bike, which stretched out the lap times and kept the riders away from their pit helpers for quite a while. One for the tough guys & gals.

Got to bed at 3am, then up before 7 to get the kids to school. Not very productive today.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Stretched while watching first half of the Wallabies, then pedalled for the 2nd. A few short efforts thrown in just to mix things up.

Kayak 1:10:00 [4]
shoes: Viper K1

Converted planned intervals in to a solid pipeline paddle upon finding a nice high tide. Pretty solid paddle. Gradually increased effort throughout. 39:40 pipeline split.

Running 40:00 [5]

Then ran up the river, with intervals on the way back. 4*2min & 1*3min at 5k race pace (not that i do 5k races, so Im guessing on that one).

Cycling 45:00 [3]

45 minute spin in front of the Tour. Lowish gear highish cadence.

Running 53:00 [3]

Morning Magazines loop after dropping kids at school, timed to perfection. Morning's heavy rain had just cleared, leaving clear air and water in the ferns to sparkle in the sun. Nice. Stopped for a minute to enjoy the waterfall at Killarney beach in full flow.

Running 40:00 [3]

Afternoon trot over to and along southern Killarney track. Old school training program for the day. Last time I did a morning run and an evening run would be about 1994.

Gym 10:00 [3]

Rope ascending practice at the climbing gym with Damon & the kids. Tried a couple of different techniques for going up a rope with Matt Blundell's guidance.
The chest & foot croll (no idea how to spell it) with one jumar was a lot easier than the 2 jumar technique, although you cant go down again that way. Good to have a practice.
Most entertaining was climbing on the big rope (ship's rope type thing) at the end. Annika got higher than Damon.

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Rode the Yeti in for some pre-Africa love.

Cycling 55:00 [3]

Rode home the freshly serviced Yeti. mmmmm.

First time Ive had a trip computer on for the commute for a while. Pretty suprised by the speed vs perceived effort on the benchmark sections - in my favour.

Gym 40:00 [3]

Late lunch quick sess in the gym.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Joined the tour peleton for the long climb of the day. The Tour is useful for extending the day. It would feel a bit silly sitting on the windtrainer at midnight otherwise.

Interesting to match the cadence of various riders. Cadel was doing 87-90 according my cadence meter on the flat. Big boy Schumacer (leading at the time) was closer to 80.
