Running 1:15:00 [3]

Bantry Bay cruisy run with Steve Craig. Pretty wet.

Kayak 3:20:00 [3]
shoes: Mako 6

Feisty! While running it looked like the southerly had dropped off, but by afternoon it came back with gusto. Good 20-25kts.

First paddled the ski down to Clontarf from Roseville - stiff 20kt headwind all the way.

Then swapped in to the double with Hugh, and headed for the main harbour. Swell was big, messy and washing machiney rounding middle head. Nearly cleaned up by a big one just starting to break from the side, even though we were over 100m off the cliffs.

Turned at Bradleys head in a heavy rain shower stinging in the wind, to add atmosphere. Coming back towards Middle Head we were watching waves actually form barrels - in the harbour.

Then ripped home on a nice downwind run. Weee.

Adventure Race 2:53:00 [3]

AROC at Lake Macquarie with Hugh Stodart and Dave Simpfendorfer.

- Swim/wade to collect an item from buoys in the lake. Controlled mayhem massed start.
- Fun little orienteering around Murray's Beach between the houses. Had to double back to collect a checkpoint we'd (i'd) left out of the loop to drop 3min.
- Rode over to the coast then same coasteer as 2 years ago. Very fun. Strong southerly added some atmosphere.
- Rode up to the cave at Caves Beach. Escorted in to the checkpoint in the cave by girls in bikinis (seriously).
- Ran across to the lake, then a short paddle of which we ran half on the beach.
- Ran back to Caves beach then rode home. Riding down rough hills on flat paddles without cleats or cages is scary.

Won by about 25min I think. Good fun with Dave & Hugh. Lots of running suited me - got to put some hurt on the cyclists.

Cycling 55:00 [3]

Rode home a bright orange Santa Cruz Superlight. Yeti not ready for tomorrow. Felt like a lounge chair.

Kayak 55:00 [3]
shoes: Viper K1

Pipeline. First paddle in the K1 for a while. Felt pretty solid, but water very glassy. Getting chilly in the mornings. 5 * 2min efforts on the downhill.

Cycling 40:00 [3]

Gingerly rode the Yeti in for a new swing arm.

Note

Write up on Katrin's ride from the weekend on AMB.

I think she has a fair claim to the household's toughest title for a while.

Running 30:00 [3]

Squeezed in an Opera House loop between meetings.

The chick (presumably scandinavian) that had stripped to her underwear to sunbake at Lady Mac chair was impressive.

Running 3:20:00 [3] +850m

Canberra activities day. Did the War Memorial, then snuck out for a run while the kids ran rampant at Questacon.

Took the old Urban Polaris map, with aim of linking up hills and green bits. Not hard in Canberra. Starting from Questacon did a Mt Ainslie, Mt Majura, Black Mountain loop. Quite enjoyed the off track running around Ainslie and Majura. Nice collection of parks and bike paths to link back to Black Mountain from Majura.

Pace never reached any great heights. Tired from the weekend, and ran accordingly.

Post run coffee at Questacon predictably shocking.
