Running 3:15:00 [3] 32.25 km (6:03 / km)

Invented a new run. Have never tried to link the eastern runs with the western ones from home due to a seemingly boring road section from the Spit Bridge through to the suspension bridge. It worked out in the end much better than expected, so I think I will designate it as an official run - Middle Harbour Loop, which sounds much better in swedish, so Ill go with Medelhamnsrunt.

Started with last part of the the Nosh run through to the Spit Bridge, then the tricky bit to get down to Tunks. Much to my surpise, there is a bush track that goes a lot of the way along the water under the expensive houses.

Bit of quiet narrow roads through houses in the "f*ck you Im rich" architectural style, another short track to Folly Point then popped out at Tunks. At this point I realised there was a metro rogaine going on in the area - basically heading in the opposite direction of my run.

Ate a 3 year out of date powerbar, then on to the commute run course thru to Castle Cove. Feeling quite good still, so tacked on a loop round the old Caslte Cove track and home.

Good run. gps plot is on a long sample showing corner cuts - wonder if that means the distance is measured short.

Kayak 1:25:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Think Legend

Then down to Clontarf to go for a paddle with Hugh. Headed out through the heads and down past the gap for a bit and return. Nice and sloppy bounce off the cliffs - boat felt pretty solid in washing machine. Reasonably up tempo fun paddle.

Then home to watch Karate Kid. Best movie to come out of the 80's?Might have a crack at getting the kids to wax the car tomorrow.

Kayak 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Sea Vanquish

Paddle from Roseville, in what used to be middle harbour but is now a brown lagoon full of logs and leaves.

First paddle in the SV for a while. Felt like it was squatting compared to the K1, so I pulled over and moved the seat & pedals forward about 3-4cm. Wow, what a difference. Would be interesting to TT against the K1 now. Did 10 * 30sec on/off but disorganised pfaff for the rest.

Running 35:00 [3]

Magazines loop. Can it get any muggier? Bit of bounce in the stride for first time in ages. Had planned a trot, but went with the bounce instead. Feeling pretty good at the end.

Cycling 55:00 [3]

Too much on, not enough sleep. Rolled in to town to try and wake up. Not sure how well its worked.

Cycling 1:40:00 [3]

Akuna loop with Darvo. Suprised by how hot it was, which had me wondering that my 500ml water supply was a tad optimistic. Coasted the first half, and slightly quicker home. Traffic during the week very different to weekends. More utes about (which is bad if you're on a bike).

Tough crowd the Sydney media. Story hit the airwaves this morning about a guy that got bitten by a shark at Mona Vale. Initial reports talked of a 2m great white, pulling out to sea, fight to the death.... When it became clear the bite was too small to be from a real big fish, the guy started to get hammered. He probably didnt help his cause by posing for a photo before driving to hospital with his wife.

Running 2:00:00 [3]

Ran home from work. Amusingly, I wasn't really paying attention and when I got to Cammeray realised I was actually following the bike route rather than the run route. Bit of a shame 'cause it meant I'd miss the bush section. Less climb on the up side.

Struggling run-wise. Pulled in to a servo for a (double) Turkish Delight which helped a bit, but never really got in to a respectable rythm. Starting to plod at Roseville Bridge, so I pulled out the big gun on the iPod to get up the hill. Sure enough, Plastique Bertrand triggered a solid 3min uphill interval proving that plodding was more mental softness than genuine fatigue. Bonus 3km when I got to the garage to find the car wasn't ready to be collected. Swim at the end tres nice.

Cleaning up Annika's room this evening I came across the following written on a notepad:

"Funny things in life
On the second night of year 4 daddy did a really long fart and I said "you can have the room to yourself".

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Just when I thought it couldn't get any muggier. Cold showers before switching in to work clobber. Interesting to see a helicopter fly under the harbour bridge this morning.

I noticed this morning a 60 buck deposit in my bank account with the message: DEPOSIT ROB DAVIS ROB MEIKA FELIX

Are they orienteering names? I have no idea what its for.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

After yesterday's poor effort, thought Id have another go at a fast commute. 39:00 ride-time from lights to Crown of the Hill. Almost 3min quicker than yesterday, with effort feeling about the same. Go figure.

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Cairns acclimatisation training. All rather smooth for a monday morning commute, until I realised I was one item short in the backpack. Commando day.

Gave the coffee machine the 'proper' clean last night, and reaped the rewards this morning. mmm.

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Quick commute. Tried to ride hard. Watch obviously a bit broken, I must have been going faster than that.
