Running 1:20:00 [3]

Evening spin on the Manly Dam 'running' loop. Found the right connector from Seaforth down to the MD picnic area, avoiding the golf course. Think this almost qualifies as a standard 'loop' now.

Adventure Race 1:45:00 [3]

Adventure race debut for Annika with mum & dad, at the AROC race (short course) up at Lake Macquarie. Wasn't really sure what to expect with Annika's previous longest hitout being the Weetbix triathlon (21 minutes), but she was keen to have a crack. (Interesting to note wearing matching tops to mum & dad is cool at 10 years old. I wonder how much longer until its 'gay').

Course was good (thanks Dave). Bus-ride to the start, couple of km on the bike to the Hawk Mount O map, solid orienteering loop, then ride back down to Dora Creek for a bit of a paddle and home.

Slightly nervy start, keeping an eye on a 10y.o in the midst of 150 bikes, but mum did a good job protecting her wheel. Arrived at the first TA behind about 20 teams, and headed off for an O loop with 9 reasonably challenging free-order checkpoints. Trotted off with Annika forcing the pace, and found ourselves off the front soon enough except for a team of 3 guys about my age who politely said to Katrin 'you guys look like you know what you're doing, is it OK if we follow you).

Plenty of head high scrub for the little one to get thru, snd some fun running on singletrack to emerge back at the bikes in good spirits, and then 7-8k's back to Dora Creek. Rode with the guys team for a while, snapped some pics, bit of a lesson on drafting, then in to the yellow tubs for a couple of k.

The funny thing about the yellow boats is that they go rather well with a light-weight crew, and with Annika packing a hefty 35kg t'was rather amusing to see we were holding Stu Adam's wash when we met his team out on the classic course. Annika's arms looking a bit heavy by the end, but seeing we had put a couple of minutes in to the fellas on the water she wound it up on the road and dropped mum and dad on the short ride to the finish. So, a bit of a bandit effort on the short course, but Annika held up well and had a great time so we'll call it even.

Nice work by Dave setting courses from scratch with a weeks notice after land-owner troubles.

Glassy water, glide-y boat, cruisy pipeline paddle. Relaxing!

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Woah. Bad case of the cbf's. Had got the gear ready for a paddle, but went back to bed when I woke to a 20kt southerly. CBF's flowed in to the ride to work where I set a new slow commute record. urgh.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Sharper ride home, largely motivated by the bottle of Barossa red next to the couch that had my name on it.

Cycling 41:00 [3]

Lovely autumn morning...Dropped Tom at band, offloaded Annika for her Sydney Dance Company camp, crossed paths with Katrin who was back from an ocean paddle with Deano and off to the school athletics carnival...while I headed off to work. Talk about getting the rough end of the pineapple.

Aim was for a solid ride which went OK, but pushing a gear up the hills felt like turning on the lactic acid tap. Rather nice rolling past the poor b*stards in traffic who drive to work.

Cycling 42:00 [3]

Planned to cruise home, but on the way out of North Sydney spotted a developing roadie commuter war up ahead. Rode a bit harder purely for the entertainment value of watching 2 chaps trying to race each other, while trying to look like they aren't trying. Kept the pace up home, and added a 5minute standig climb up from Roseville Bridge.

Kayak 16:30 [3] 3.0 km (5:30 / km)

Evening spin on the ergo. Slow to start then gradually picked up. Tightened up the pull bar on the feet to see if using it helps with rotation.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Back on the commute for the first time in a while. Starting to get that Autumn feeling in the air, and the jacket conundrum - freeze at the beginning then nice, or nice at the beginning then overheat.

In their infinite wisdom, the RTA have installed a street sign in the middle of the foot/bike path where you get on to Roseville Bridge for east bound traffic - which is not very visible from the opposite direction. Wish we could have voted out the RTA too.

Luckiest member of the household for the week is Annika, who has scored 3 days off school to go on a dance camp at the Sydney Dance Company. Don't think Ive ever seen her out of bed and ready to leave by 7 before.

Up-tempo ride home. Bit tight in the left adductor from yestie's run. A gentle reminder to start stretching the hammies more.

Lamenting the impending end to riding home in the light.
