Kayak 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Mako 6

Sunday afternoon cruise from Manly while Annika had her debut race as crew on a Flying 11.

Wasn't sure how she would go on debut, given a 20kt sea breeze had kicked up. Stopped worrying when I saw them smoking past under spinnaker with a massive smile on her dial. I'm jealous.

Tummy still a bit iffy. I probably should get some doctor drugs.

Kayak 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Mako 6

One of Sydney's great paddles - the North Head circumnavigation - on a lovely Saturday morning. Started at Freshie with a surf start, then down to Manly surf club. Beach landing, and then 800m walk across to the Harbour side, and paddled home around North Head.

Did well in the washing machine along the wall and the technical runs down to Bluefin, but got chicked when the runs cleaned up back up to Freshie.

Note

Based on the diagnosis of the other lads, sounds like I've had Giardia since Kokoda. That would explain a lot.

I wonder if it was from the streams or the Jumbo pizzas in Port Moresby?

Running (River loop) 1:00:00 [3]

Actually felt a little bit upbeat along the river, but struggled on the hills at the end. Wore an HRM to discover that HR was noticeably higher than normal for a given effort.

Running 30:00 [3]

Casual lunch trot around the poseurs loop (Botanical gardens waterfront). Managed to run for a whole half hour without stopping (because it was dead flat).

Running (Killarney loop) 40:00 [3]

Tentative steps back to exercise after self-imposed 2 week rest after Kokoda. Wow. Still felt fatigued when running, particularly uphill. Almost enojgh energy to write a run report now - just need to find the time.

In other sports news, Annika's team won the U13 state softball championships on the weekend. Impressive to watch a group of 12 year old girls on both teams keep their cool (and their smiles) in front of a noisy 500-odd strong crowd as a nail-biting finish played out.

Not so fun to see Annika cop some nasty body shots in the last prelim game, and be asked by the coaches if I was OK for her to play in the final though. Dont think she would ever forgive me if Id said no. Tough chook.
