Kayak 1:10:00 [3]

Early morning spin from Fisherman's on the Spark. Headed offshore into a solid sou' easter for half a dozen in & outs on some nice runners.

The decision on turning point was made for me on the first loop when a shark surfaced right in front of the ski. Urgh. I'd just come over a roller when I saw the tip of a dorsal fin about 10m in front and swimming towards me. At first I thought it was only a little shark as the fin looked small, but then fin got rapidlty bigger as sharky came closer to the surface. As we converged it snapped to its left and disappeared underewater at the last minute, as if it wasn't particularly pleased to be disturbed by a big white ski. Once again, Im sure Kim can guess the sound-effect.

Running 50:00 [3]

Early morning spin around the secret Red Hill wiggly track to wear out the dog.

Running 1:10:00 [3]

Super-nostalgic run with Steve Craig, Darvo, Matty Sherlock & Stef. Been a looong time since PD, Steve and I all ran together. Ran over to Tracy & Stix rock, then came home with some bush-bashing thrown in for old time's sake.

Running 1:10:00 [3]

Easy holiday tempo run down to manly, and jumped a ferry to work. Didn't have time to do the full Spit-Manly route, so went thru the Dam. Harbour cruise is a nice way to start the day.

Noticed the bavarian beer cafe at Manly wharf was open at 8:45. Almost tempted.

Running 58:30 [3]

Pre-fireworks run around the Bantry Bay loop.

An exciting end to the trail running year, when I jumped over a rock and found my right foot descending right on top of a bloody big snake. Did a big triple-jumper/road-runner air step, while snaky took similar evasive manoevres and just missed each other by centimetres. There must have been a Cockatoo in the tree next to us, as Im sure I head a big girly squeal that couldn't have been me.

Kayak 3:00:00 [3]

Back to back kiddie races. Paddled quite hard today, doing circumnavigations of the course triangle. Would be a few k to get around.

Munchkins finished their weekend strongly. Such a luxury to have someone of Hugh's calibre teaching Tom to sail. I understand now how top level sailing tends to run in families. It is such a complex activity, you'd never be able to get really good at it without a lot of close up coaching.

Quite funny after the first race of the day. Hugh paddled over and said (Im paraphrasing) - "Well done on winning. Now, here's 12 things you did wrong".

Great weekend.
