Sunday Jun 8

Note
(rest day)
I felt normal already so I went to Suunto Games and worked in the first aid. I'm our taping and binding specialist. We also have 2 doctors (one trauma specialist) and 1 med student. So if you want to sprain your ankle, it's good to do it in Suunto Games! ;)

It was confirmed today that I'll run the 1st leg in our 2nd team in the Venla relay in Jukola. I wasn't originally as excited about it as I was before Tiomila because now I know that I'm not really able to catch the fastest trains. But my team mates trust me to do a good job in the first leg and keep reminding me about how fast I am. That sure feels nice. :)

Saturday Jun 7

Note
(sick)
I probably have somekind of a stomach bug. I think I got it from my hippie flatmate, which means that her illness wasn't, after all, caused by the salad she made of leaves she had picked from somewhere in Kumpula. My stomach hurt during the night and I was also a bit nauseous. When I tried to get up in the morning I felt sicker and was soon covered in cold sweat. So I went back to bed...

I was supposed to spend the whole day at Suunto Games (a competition arranged by my club), first checking some controls before the competition and then in the first aid. Luckily they had enough people for those tasks even without me.

Friday Jun 6

Cycling 45:00 [1]
ahr:119
I had doublebooked myself for today so I decided to do a long combination training.
The cycling part I did alone.
Nordic walking 50:00 [1]
ahr:120
This part of the training with Roope. My stomach hurt quite a lot and he told me not to go running anymore... But I took a Samarin...
Cycling 15:00 [1]
ahr:116
and then cycled to Tiina's place.
Jogging 30:00 [2]
ahr:138
The Samarin helped and I was able to go "running" with Tiina and Ilona. I was totally dead and my heart rate was a lot higher than it should have been...

Thursday Jun 5

Running hills (Mäkikukkanen x2) 30:00 [4]
max:196
The "hill flower" training is definitely the best training my sport high school coach Aki Saranen has ever come up with. It's a route around the Paloheinä hill going up and down different kinds of slopes. I ran it twice today.

1st loop: 14'54 Avg 173
Legs felt pretty stiff, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do a second lap.
~6 minutes break
2nd loop: 15'18 Avg 176
Legs weren't stiff anymore, they were more like overcooked spaghetti. The last and steepest uphill was a bit too much for me today. My legs were on fire and I had to take some walking steps. I also had to stop and caugh a bug out of my throat.

I was totally in the twilight zone after the training. It didn't help that it was +27'C and sunny. A good session!
Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]
20'+10'.

Wednesday Jun 4

Running 30:00 [1]
ahr:128 max:155
Jogging around Kumpula.

Tuesday Jun 3

Circuit training etc. (Intervalli 30) 25:00 [3]
ahr:144
I felt like sweating in a group today. Got the training done easily that way. It was mostly basic aerobics (I made a bit of a fool out of myself again when I couldn't get some easy steps right). Some parts were harder and I got my heart rate even above the anaerobic threshold for a little while.
Circuit training etc. (Keskivartalotreeni 30) 25:00 [2]
Some pretty basic back and stomach exercises. A piece of cake, but it was a good cake anyway.
Note
My other flatmate is a saint. Or at least I'm now willing to forgive her for all the annoying things that she has done in the past. She came back from Spain yesterday and today she cleaned the whole flat! It's a pity that she'll probably go abroad in the autumn.
Note
Just one more thing about the sprint champs. The top 3 of the A-final was also the top 3 in my heat in the qualification. Not that it matters but I just happened to notice that...

Monday Jun 2

Cycling 1:15:00 [1]
ahr:112 max:158
A very easy spin in the central park before work. The pedals and shoes kick ass!
Note
I realized today that my summer flatmate is a hippie. Not that I'd have anything against hippies. More power to them. But I'm kinda happy that she's staying only for the summer.
