Note

A Champ again!

Struggled on day 1 with the understated climb and the fact that we did about 20% of it right from the start. But hung in there by coming in 3.5min behind an incredible Mikell and resurgent Mikkel!

Then after working out a plan of attack for day 2 with Greg, who also taped my banged up knee, managed to win by a slim margin for overall win.

The terrain, despite being fairly open, offered enough challenges and I often found myself running in a damage control mode in the forested areas. And this seemed to work well on day 1. With the plan to run more aggressively on day 2, and take more risks, I almost paid for it on #6. Then after catching up to Erin on #9, I shifted into the next gear and nailed the last 8 bags. All there was for me to do is just wait for others to finish and hope that I did just enough out there to earn the win. Turned out, I managed to do just that.

It felt good to be in the woods again and seeing the familiar crowd over the weekend. Also, really good back to back runs by Matej were very impressive as well! It is only a matter of time before younger legs will be leaving us older "guards" in the dust...

Matched my PR on this loop, albeit with much cooler temps and with a greater effort. Legs haven't been feeling fresh for a number of weeks now so might rest them completely next week.
Getting excited for the Champs (the only Champs) as last year's results need no reminder. Still the greatest upset at least during my time of O-ing in the States.
