Update: My second MRI is in and yes there is something funky with my lateral miniscus. Not very much according to my doc but still there is. He showed me the images and indeed there is not much can be drawn from them with exeption for a small area that isn't supposed to look the way it is.
He put it quite clearly, it is really not something definitive, if we go in (by pulling and probing the miniscus) we may not find much at all, there is that chance. The symptoms and somewhat the MRI look like there is a tear, but it is difficult to say what type. If it is torn in certain way it could be either cut-ff (something I said no to), or trimmed, or stitched back togheter. I have the surgery scheduled on June 13, pending my insurance approval, and am hoping that whatever the case is, it won't need to be cut-off.
It was pretty much my decission to do the surgery, as he said that there is a chance it would heal, but it's been close to 1.5 years now that I've been feeling discomfort with that knee and which flared up after the PIG, so I said I would rather have it done than hope that it "may" heal.

Note

Went to Mnt. Sinai to see the doc after getting my MRI films. His opinion: The film is garbage (Open MRI) the impression describes the wrong miniscuss (medial) instead of the (lateral) the area where the pain is. Conclussion: repeat the MRI in better place. He said that he didn't want to go in and look for something that is not there. Though he mentioned that there is "something" with the lateral meniscus but because of the crappy image not much could be drawn from it. Looks like the saga drags on.... :(

P.S. Good that we have competent docs, I think that he is. I am pretty sure if I went back to the refering doc in Brooklyn, he would've opened me up in the wrong place, he didn't even think I had anything wrong with my knee in the fist place and only agreed to refer me for MRI after I insisted on it. :)
