Orienteering race 1:16:08 [3] 7.8 km (9:46 / km) +200m 8:39 / km

CSU Day 2 Red - Long. The plan was to survive. Started out good, legs felt quite fresh and orienteered well till #6 which i missed by 1.5 min. Then on the way to #9 began feeling weak and after #10 I was close to experiencing yesterday's disaster again. So I walked to #11 and then half jogged half walked till about # 20. Then recalled that I may get my scalp taken again if I continued to walk despite my promises to never let that happen again, so I started jogging faster despite feeling really crappy. To my relive, Peter was on the other course, and even more surprising, I barely beat Greg! What a day.

Orienteering race 33:53 [4] 4.5 km (7:32 / km) +150m 6:27 / km

CSU Semi - Middle Blue. The plan was simply not push and just not do anything stupid out there, so I was having an ok race, having only a 20 sec mistake on # 4, up until # 9 where I got confused by the trail network and totally forgot about contours. Spent some time running back and forth until it hit on me to look at the highway below, only then I figured that I ran near the bag twice already. This was really embracing mistake and I got kicked out of the final 10 as well.

Orienteering 1:02:00 [4] 5.8 mi (10:41 / mi) +150m 9:54 / mi

CSU Middle Final - Blue. Didn't really have any plans for this one, perhaps only not to be caught by Emily I think. Started out really good by nailing the first bag, then messed up # 3 a bit on a rough bearing. Started feeling really sluggish on the way to #7 and then totally hit the wall at # 13. The heat and sickness took the toll on me and after spending some time on the ground I simply walked the rest of the way. Got my scalp taken by Peter, what else is there to say :)

I really liked the format of this event, I would imaging that announcements also kept those who stayed entertained while I was out in the woods.
