Day 4, Karlstad Mini-5 Days (Bana 5)- Finally, I had a good run in Sweden! I was starting to worry that I had forgotten how to run in Swedish terrain after 7 years. As per usual the course was great and the terrain excellent. I was getting really excited on the rather long (I have to keep reminding myself that I'm in Sweden where that happens) walk to the start because the woods were the wonderful wide open pine forest with small rippling hills - I couldn't wait to go flying through it. The race did not start in the wide open forest, but about half-way through the course we crossed back into it. I spiked more than half of the controls and only had a real problem on the control that was hung with the incorrect control code. I was fairly certain I was at the right spot and there were at least 10 other people standing around the control, I just hesitated because they were all deliberating in Swedish so I waited to see what consensus they came to after a few min. We all punched and it was the correct control location, but Tom said that they will still have to throw out the entire course. That means that my start time for the chase is going to be really late since the only good race I ran was today and my finishing places for the other two races were wayyyyyy back.

Orienteering 38:00 [3] *** 3.9 mi (9:45 / mi)

Tom's Training Day 2 - We ran a 3 loop, 1 man relay. Each loop was set as a sprint, but with middle distance control features. The sprint was really fun, but tired me out a bit too much before the night's race. I only had about two mistakes, I overshot my second control on the first loop and had about 3 min error and then ran to the wrong ditch junction on one of my last controls on the last loop. Great training though.
