Note
(sick) (rest day)

No run last night for two reasons. First, I do believe that I might have an ear infection or at least a cold because I am having some issues with my balance. Going to try to make a doctor's appointment for today to have it checked out. Second, there was aparently a mountain lion/cougar roaming about the city of College Park yesterday. I was actually out for a walk on my lunch break and had no sight of it, but since I'm wasn't feeling terribly well I used it as an extra excuse to just go home and go to bed early.

Trail Running 48:11 [3]

Greenbelt Park Perimeter Trail - another easy day just to get back into the swing of things. I was still really tired today despite all of the sleep I got the night before - to make my day even more fun I seemed to have some sort of problem where my equilibrium was off (I felt like there was fluid in my ear a couple of days ago so maybe I have an ear infection?) so I kept feeling like I was going to fall to one side or another. A couple of times I almost did fall. I wasn't sure how running was going to go, but I had started to feel better so I just decided to take it easy at first and go from there. After the initial 10 min of fighting with my legs to get them moving I felt pretty good and continued to feel good for the rest of the run. You could even say that I had a strong last 10 min where I progressively built up speed until I attacked my up hill finish. I was tired, but I felt good. Hopefully this means I'm starting to recover from my jetlag. We shall see tomorrow when I attempt some speed work.

Stregnth Training 45:00 [3]

Kickboxing - it felt soooo nice to be back to my kickboxing class. We got some new toys while I was away so class was even more fun because I got to play some. I especially liked the weighted hula-hoops that we have now - using them give your core an incrediable workout, plus you feel like a kid again. Overall I had a pretty poor showing in class though. I'm even more tired today than I was yesterday with my jetlag so my coordination and balance was pitiful, I was stumbling all over the place. I didn't run last night because I was exhausted after work and had to go grocery shopping since I had no food, but tonight I will. Hopefully I can manage to keep up a decent pace.

Northwest Branch Trail startin at Adelphi Mill - just wanted to get the legs moving again, still really tired from traveling though. Started off at a pretty easy pace to loosen up and wake up. I don't think I ever felt completly into the run, but after I hit the big hill midway through (almost 3 min of straight climbing to get up it) I at least stopped feeling like I was running in sand. Thankfully, the heat and humidity weren't too bad today, but its only supposed to get worse as the week goes on - that should make the speed work that I need to do before the US Champs superfun...

Event: WUOC 2008

Stregnth Training 30:00 [2]

Core Workout Class - after three weeks of neglecting my core exercises it felt good to get back to it. It also felt great to just move around in general after the nightmare that was my trip back to the States (totalled over 24 hours). My usual instructor was out today and her sub was this little old woman that had to be at least 60 - she was surprisingly strong, but moved at a bit too slow of a pace for me. It only made all the sit-ups she had us doing that much more agonizing...
