SOL6 Fairy Knowe & Doon Hill. M45L / Short Brown: 7km +315m. At the area early to help with JEC, and as yesterday once the sun burnt off the early mist it was glorious. When the JEC runners all came in looking as if they'd been mud wrestiling it was clear that that area was a tad soggy - not to mention rough and tough! So, after a long day and long weekend, when I finally got off for next-to-last start, I was happy to just take it easy and not race, to protect my bad ankles.
It was fun, and I liked the change of pace for the green area, but I didn't like the grot - sadly I only realised just how grotty it was when I got stuck in it early on in the long leg, and I lost at least five minutes on the track option. I was also generally pretty scrappy, but mostly just moving slowly. The seas of mud in the northern area of the map were a totally slapstick giggle. I finished with a big smile on my face, and pretty fresh, although my back was starting to protest through the tablets.
Great fun and a great weekend. TRIMP 156.1.
