Finally ticked the three Glendessary Munros, at my fourth attempt, on the most glorious spring day. Sgurr nan Coireachan, Garbh Cioch Mhor and Sgurr na Ciche. Three of the finest, roughest, wildest Scottish hills, and I had them all to myself, which was both an absolute privilege and a little bit sad. More people should make the effort to appreciate this incredible landscape, not just old buffers like me who lost their souls to the wilderness a very long time ago. Still, it's a big old day, and too rough to move quickly over the hills themselves, as they're magnificently rocky. I was chuffed to manage to jog all of the long approach and return, and my climbing was strong. The knee didn't like the descents, but, hey ho. The ultimate way to train for the LAMM? Now I just need to do this for two days in a row... Ulp. TRIMP 425.

Had planned to get a couple of hours in on the bike this morning before taking Jamie to the FVL athletics meet in Livingston, but the hangover from hell interceded and I spent most of the morning in bed. Very cross with myself. In retrospect, though, the third day of rest before Sunday's effort was probably quite useful.

WEE at Minewoods. Jogged around the Yellow course with Eilidh before my run. TRIMP 12.9.

Green course. By the time it came around to my run, I was not in the right frame of mind to race. I was also feeling pretty banged up - niggly back, bad knee. Shoe choice of worn-out studs not ideal for avoiding slip strain. So. Jogged round, unfortunately just below the optimum pace at which you're moving slowly enough for the navigation to be easy, but fast enough to stay focussed. Some mistakes, then, to add to the slow pace. Oh well. It was a nice night! TRIMP 85.3.

Aborted attempt at phone-O. Started out to try Chris's MapRun course around the uni campus, but I really struggled to get the app to recognise that I'd visited a control site. After three controls of fruitlessly running in ever increasing circles around the control features only to be rewarded with a random beep when I was last expecting it, I gave up and went for a jog up into Hermitage Woods with what little time I had remaining before my STUOC meeting. App deleted.
