Pole-Orienteering 1: Green course at Dumyat.
Day 1 of slow-O; first time O'ing with poles. I think it helped, but it was quite a struggle in the terrain and I have lots to fine tune... A thumb compass didn't really work with the pole; not sure I really need poles for all of the course; might actually be better with two for the descents, which were a struggle. Painfully slow, but my knee survived: I got the taping right today. Hopefully it works out better than the compression support at keeping the patella in the least grindy position.

Routegadget: https://routegadget.fvo.org.uk/rg2/#75&route=5.... Banana on #3 (dragged right to try to call J back!), walked right past #4, and lost days on the descents to #5 and #6, just couldn't get down the steep slopes.

Pole-O 2: Shadowing E around the Orange course.
E took ages to get going, and I was pretty saturated by then, and got rather cold. Glad to finish.

60 mins riders choice. Tried taping up my knee, but the tape adhesive wasn't strong enough and it came away. The knee started grumbling before 50 mins came up, so I had to moderate effort for the final 10 mins.

Shadowing E around the Novice course at Minewoods. Not the most harmonious of father-daughter experiences. The paths being covered in fallen leaves did make things difficult for Little Miss I Am Always Right, as did her refusal to use her compass for the first half of the course.
Knee liked the uphills, but was very uncooperative on the descents.

Try again with slightly more frequent bursts of straight-legged jogging. Instant discomfort - rapidly followed by pain - on even the slightest knee lift. Will carry on trying for a bit, but TBH if this is all I can hope for, I will just walk and save the cardio efforts for the bike. This isn't running.
