JK M120+ Relay Leg 3

Again managed to stuff up 1, but for a very different reason (plan not good enough) and got pulled by the contours and not the bearing.

Apart from that 20s on 3 in the circle as I didnt read the shape quite right.

JK2011 Day2 - Long WRE. (no GPS - WRE !)

Hot day and I put suncream on that sweated into my eyes throughout the race. Was rather unpleasant. Also forgot my race Marzipan and just grabbed a chocolate bar instead.

Knew I could do it physically but was not really confident at what pace. I think I hung back early on from running as fast as I should through concern of it being a long. However I undercooke dit and was running faster in the last 1/3 than the ffirst 1/3. Really should have pushed on earlier.

Only big error was 2 mins on 12, missreading the contour detail. Apart from that 4 x 20s bananas into the control but nothing big at all.

Overall quite pleased. Should have prepared slightly better and pusshed from the start.

Fast sand dunes really technical stuff. Was confident (perhaps over confident) in execution before the race.

1- Picked a good obvious attack point and then miss identified it at speed. After reattacking the control twice and not finding it realised something was more wrong and relocated and then picked my way in correctly. However through about 11mins away in the process. Looking back the attack point was the correct one and I would have done the same again. Just missed the parralled similar looking attack point.

The rest was much much better. Loss of 1min in total. Small "round the wrong side of the hill" choice errors but never really out of control.

Without the mistale on 1 it would have been a good run. Oh well.

JK 2011 Sprint - WRE.

Warm day. I was keen to get a proper warm up in before the race as I had failed to do this especially on sprint races. So spent 10-15 mins and was happy with this. This also put in a positive frame of mind for the race.

Some poor an dmostly minor leg exectution issues (but they add up overall !).
2- went the long way round a building 20s
5 - Simlar to 2 20s
11- missed a cut through but kept moving well say 20s.
20 - off slightlyt - 5s
21 - failed to read the right route through twice! 30s
24 - missed the shorter path route 20s
All in all need to work on planning ahead more, even more so in Sprint I suspect.

Ended up wearing a head cam for the organisers. Lovely footage of map reading at speed. Will post for peoples laugh value when I have manipulated it a bit. Dont think it really affected speed, but did attract lots of comments.
