Jukola 2012 - Leg 3 - Long Night

Ben Stevens had a cracking run on Leg1 sub 100 at one point but fading back to 200 ish. Ian Webb dropped some more places to put in a solid performance so at 1:55am I was off!

Was immediately passed on the run out by a few team. Grabbed a look at my map, identified it as tricky leg and then bang into the area with no real plan and predicatably lost 6-7 mins on leg1. Deep breath and settled down and started orienteeirng. The rest of the course promptly passed without major navigational issue! Felt a bit slow and not pushing hard enough at many points but overall a reasonable outing,

5 - Lost 30 s on not keeping straight.
10- Went out due W to pick up the N of the OOB option. Was not where I thought I was but the route gave a great relocation point on the top of the hill and lost no time.
14- Got pulled witht he track and was momentarily confused on what had happened. Worked it out fast but probably 30sec hesitation and 30sec non optimal route.
17 - Was thinking of going right round but the route I ended up worked well and was quick.
18 - slightly too low and had a little banana 30 sec
19 - got low and sightly confused. Picked up quickly 20sec.
Last look hit cleanly but probably not aggresive enough again.

Phil Marsland held postion James W dropped us back (but still a very credible performance from someone who has never been to Jukola before. Jamie P started picking places up again (for someone who has not done much (any?) outside the UK a stunning performance. Matt Lyle was holding on but dropped a few later on to get to 409 ... mot embarrasing at all.
