Orienteering race (IOC Relays) 37:14 [5]*** 5.29 km (7:02 / km) +220m 5:50 / km
ahr:179 max:197 spiked:13/14c shoes: Nimbus MudClaws
First man in the box... 5 mins pass.... then 6, david healy is first back, no sign of shea, after 10 more mins, 10 runners finish and 2nd leg runners go out...still no seamus....fiach comes in...still the hill top is empty.... seamus finally summits the last hill. All the anger and rage of the previous year is coursing threw my vains. Seamus tags me and i'm gone, up the hill and out the runout. climbing the hill, my legs feel fresh. i read the contours correctly an spike first control and turn up the hill to number 2, passing Val Jones of fingal, i accelerate up the hill fueled with hatred. I see the control from 200m and refold my map planning the rest of the course, i flow threw number 2 and desend into the retrant to attack the 3rd control, i try running across the marsh but its a little to wet for my liking, so i contuine up past the crag before crossing the marsh. i contuine to climb up the hill and see Pat F on the far side, he yells at me wheres number 141, i don't even look at him as i point up the hill just past my attack point. I punch and exit quickly to 5. Contuining the climb my mind returns to kev and all the abuse i recieved saying how i didn deserve my place on the relay team. I flow threw 5 and contuine to climb to the summit and begin the massive desent to 6. Throwing myself down the hill i pick out my control and attackpoint. As my attack point neered, i froze in my tracks. Guss, stopped and unsure of his direction. I look at my map and keep half an eye on where he's going. This guy never gets lost. I snap back to reality at the taught of him running my cousre backwords and throw my body towards the marsh. As i leave 6, i climb slightly to have faster running, i check my watch and my HR is at 188, a nice pace i think to myself. The rentrant for 7 is easily seen from 50meters. I drop further ground on the way to 8 and to my discust i must climb back up to the 8th control. I walk for the first time on the course, again my taughts fall back to kevin and my legs are suddenly pumping up the hill. I arrive 40m down the stream to the control but i can see the crag. I contuine along level ground to 9 without much of a plan, seeing senan in the corner of my eye i push the pace harder. i can feel my legs complaining as i drop off the crag to punch 9. I'm in full flight on the way to 10 and as i arrive at 11 i see podge. He started almost 15mins in front of me. I'm running on air- literally- as i take a big drop down to 12, i can feel podge hurting as he tries to match my pace. Unknown to me at the time, he followed me to the wrong 2nd last control. My body is in a hyper excited state, i drop off the cliff at stumble as i accelerate to the last control, i hear guys screaming at me as i push ever fiber towards Roar. He is the only thing I see. He pulls off his jacket as i eat up the ground, hands touch, he's gone. i lunge for the finish punch. Its over. The adrenline is flowing threw my body like electric. I walk out of the down load and pan on the grass. Still fuming with anger and hatred.

A good run. I shut up alot of people who said i'd blow up. 3rd in IOC against 2 forgien team. GEN paid for 2 of there runners to fly over and all of the CorkO team live abroad. CNOC stand strong. Next year will be a different story . . . . .

-Yes i realise the irish are on saturday

Got up at 5am and made my way to the curragh

Test ran the Mens senior course, all 10km of it. I didn mean to run as hard as i did. i was boucing for the first half, eating up the ground round the 7km mark my legs felt a little tired so i dropped the pace. still good fun.

AT didn bother me at all- until i slowed down then it hurt. Therefore at the irish i must run hard for every second of the race :)
