| RDF Irish Championships- Curragh West
I got out of bed early to go to the curragh to check controls- out of the goodness of my heart.
When i reached the start i mentioned to the comdt that i was checking controls to make sure they were in the right spot and we wouldn have a repeat of last year. He would have given me a kinder look if he walked in on me in bed with his wife. I gave the Pat a buzz and he sorted it all out and i went on my way. The first few controls were in the right spot. Then things got horrible. The next few were on the feature but the guys didn check the codes so wrong side etc. I was out the far side of the curragh and i arrived at the site to find the tag but no control so i buzzed the boss and i slightly began to freek as they guys were starting in under 10mins. Pat legged it over (about 6km) and he saw the control on the far side of the bush - i felt like an idiot. He spun me back and i checked the last few to make sure... The only control i didn check was number one. So i jogged out to it and came at the feature from above, landed in the rentrant. . . no control. by this time about 6 guys had gone through so i hunted a bit an found it on a spur 60m away... The comdt at the start wanted me to call pat to get permission to change it. I did so as after all, the comdt did attend a mapping course or something of that description in england- he clearly knew what he was on about.....clearly :) |

| My left tendon is still abit dodgy. I'm popping the pain killers and deep heat etc. My right appears to have healed.
When i was running they felt fine but not perfect. Now that i'm home i can feel my left one rubbing(!). Meh, time heals all wounds :P |

Pain the entire way, on way back to naas the road was closed so i had a nasty detour. Mist on the way up to the Wicklow gap but coming into laragh it cleared up. One of those strange winds that blew in every direction. |

| just took the bike out. Went curragh direction. Pretty hot out, with a strong warm wind. Out by lumville, up past rugby club and on towards donnellys hollow and around the back of the butts. On the straight from bunhill to the camp i put the head down and went, hit 60kph at one point, reached camp, swung the bike around and cycled along the straight back into the wind. Finished my cycle by doing intervals in the curragh camp, home via rugby club and lumville.
I can't seem to get my HR up that high. My jaw is dragging off of the road as i gulp in O2 but i struggle to break 175. |
