Long Run 1:00:00 [3]

Run from home up Milton Rd, past NGHS, past Rita's old place, up and over to Sturm's Gully, then two loops up to the lookout - bailed out and went back down the steps the second time because it was getting too dark. Up Karaka Rd and Seapoint Rd, then down Shakespeare Rd and home. Felt a bit slow, but not too bad.

From the road end in the Kaweka's to the Mangatainoka Hot Springs and back with Mitchell. Cool walk, lots of awesome views of the Mohaka River. Clearly haven't done enough hill work - my butt muscles were not used to all the climb.

I'm counting this as training because the reeling in was actually really hard work (or I just have no upper body strength). Total fishing time was about four hours, on a boat off Gisborne:)

Harriers hill run - did all the hard bits, and tried to push it on the last hill, which was pretty tough. There are a few other girls of similar pace there now, which is good.

Was going to go climbing, but there were a whole lot of kids there, so not worth it.

Lost 12-13 - closet game for a while. Pretty intense, and I think we are improving being in the higher grade.

From Ashburn to the top of Flagstaff and back, in the snow! Fun! With compulsory snowman building at the top, and stops for smashing the ice in the puddles.

Harriers hill run for the first time in ages. Good to be pushed on the hills by having some others around. Didn't find it quite as hard as I expected, although I did take the easy option one of the two times it came up. Freezing cold cloudless sky.

Other Sport (Climbing) 1:10:00 [3]

Just round the corner. Had a few fail walls - one of the grips is gone on the green wall I've been trying to master, so I did even worse on that one this week... Did well on a few others though. Good to already be warmed up by running.

Not sure how I ended up playing so little of this game - too many people there I think. Lost 17-10. I scored a good goal, and also had the weird experience of playing half the game then realizing that the new guy on our team is one of the new consultants at work...

Craggy Range, club red course after the schools relays. Felt pretty tired again, short easy course, no real mistakes, just felt slow.

Bike out to the end of Bay view and back - horrible head/cross wind, so didn't go all the way out along the road I usually do. Did a little extra loop in Ahuriri to try to make it a bit longer.

Prickly Sands training - run out to the light green and did all the girls and guys controls in there. Much better this time around, although made the same mistake coming into the vague reentrant/depression area as I did last time - I think because I used fight as an attack point, which is never a good plan. Freezing cold and wet - couldn't use my hands by the end.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

Open area of Prickly Sands - sprint route choice around the green with Piret and Sarah. Basically concluded that as long as you looked at the options and picked one quickly, we got there at about the same time. Were probably running a bit fast to do this exercise properly, but it was too cold to stand around!

Orienteering 50 [3]

Return to Kaikokapu - training. Line flowing exercise with Piret. Good because either she was talking or I was, so was forced to focus. Light green areas still tricky even going a bit slower.

Kaikokapu again, compass exercise this time. Good practice, overran one, but the rest were all okay. Probably looked through the blanked out areas a bit much though.

QB Day 3, Kaikokapu, loops race. Ended up running most of the race by myself after mucking up the first control. Felt a bit like running through snow again... Found the light green areas quite tricky, so mostly tried to pop out to the tracks. Better run than the last few days but still not great.

Orienteering 1:17:07 [3]

QB Day 2, Prickly Sands, Long. Slow through the first ones in the light green, although no massive mistakes. Saw a few people running through the out of bounds on the long leg out to the open, and felt like I was running through really heavy snow - really tired and not feeling fast at all. Made many small mistakes on the open ones, mainly by going the wrong way round a patch of green - never really lost, just very inefficient.

Orienteering 17:25 [3]

QB Day 1, Waitarere forest sprint. Generally feeling really tired and not fast - partly driving from Hawkes Bay this morning and partly from too much work - the last three weeks included the horrible 12 day stretch followed by a week with two long days... Mostly minor mistakes until 12, coming back across into the main strip, veered too far left and didn't read the map properly - thought I was looking for a hill rather than a depression.
