Orienteering 1:44:46 [3]

Long Distance - I already knew I didn't have terrain endurance yet, but I didn't know it was going to be quite this bad! Got progressively tireder, but couldn't really maintain a decent pace anyway which was a bit disappointing - I think a lot of it was not having much stability again, so any roll of my ankles turned into way more than it should have been.

Orienteering 39:37 [3]

Middle Distance at Wharepapa South. Caught Claire pretty early but couldn't get away from her, and Angela caught us at about 5, and got ahead at about 10 I think. Cool course - need to work on my stability running in terrain though.

Orienteering 57:42 [3]

Night event. Got dropped on the way to 3 as I expected, then caught Imogen, Angela, and Rita at various points but we all went different ways so really just bumped into each other at various points. Imogen got away when I screwed up the second to last control. Don't normally enjoy night events, but this one was pretty good for the second half, even though it was freezing cold and raining!

Long Run 41:00 [3]

Run for 21 mins up the Hutt river and 20 mins back - just as exciting as Laura said it would be... felt not brilliantly fantastic the whole way - legs a bit stiff and not really loosening up until right near the end. Saw a film crew with some police standing around and wondered what they were up to.

2x 800m (3.35, 3.30) with a 2 min recovery and 4x 400m (1.40, 1.37, 1.38, 1.34) with full recoveries. At Newtown Park track with Todd. Felt pretty good, apart from still having a cough which was flairing up about halfway through each rep.

Legs have been a bit achey over the last week so I decided they needed a break, then woke up to the horrible weather and was quite glad I'd already made that decision. Bought some new running shorts and socks though, so I seem to be looking forward to running tomorrow an almost unreasonable amount!

Hydrabad Red Long ~7.2km. Made a few small mistakes, mainly trying to get around the massive boxthorn bushes that were in the way, but other than that pretty good. Felt pretty tired after yesterday and slow as usual, but possibly improving.

Orienteering 1:40:00 [3]

Training on Osgiliath with Lizzie, Sarah, Todd and Magnus coaching Wally, Rob and Paul. Put out controls for aiming off, went round the verbalisation exercise with Sarah then Paul, then the traffic lighting exercise, then raced Sarah, Wally and Paul in a Tennis match. Not sure of the exact timing, so this is an estimate - we left the bach at 11am and started running out of the forest at 3pm.

With Hayley from their place in Whitby through Cannon's Creek to the motorway and back at dusk - only slightly scary... First run back after being sick and it felt pretty good - nice and slow. It was Hayley's first run over 20mins since she got injured last year, so I wasn't really expecting it to be quite so long!

Orienteering 6:00:00 [3]

City Safari with Mitchell - fun, but very long and towards the end my legs were getting pretty sore and after we'd finished I didn't warm down (we were going pretty slowly by then anyway) and when I got up after the prizegiving I could hardly walk! We chose the wrong area of the map to go to (Miramar and Island Bay) - too many 20 point controls and too spread out. SHould have gone north into the hills.

~15mins warmup, 20 mins harder, 15mins warmdown. Went from Gurkha Crs to Khandallah Park, around a few of the flatter tracks and down to Simla Crs, then back, looping through Khandallah Park again. Felt fairly flat, which was not fun.

Run from Gurkha Crs up Mt Kaukau through Khandallah park, up the spur, and with the extra loop at the bottom, then back via the front roads. Felt good, and beat the darkness, which was a bit closer than I had planned after our last tute today went over time by an hour!

Long Run 14:00 [3]

7min warmup, 7min warmdown - would have done longer but it was dark and I was tired, and getting cold at the end.

Intervals 19:44 [3]

10x 33 second intervals with 1min30s recoveries, ended up just being up the street over the road on the asphalt - picked that street because it has a very slight upwards incline which hopefully wasn't too hard on my legs. Got home from uni when it was too dark to do anything else, which was annoying, but these were fun anyway.

Long Run 1:02:00 [3]

Run from Gurkha Crs up the middle track of Kaukau by the creek, and down the spur I usually go up - decide this is a bad idea, as it is really steep going down, so is pretty slippery, plus you have to go really slowly. Straight route back. Really wish I could bike again.

Note

I was pretty gutted today to find out that I have to have surgery on my wrist sometime soon. The ligaments haven't healed and one has gone a funny shape trying to, so I have to ahave an operation to fix them. Don't know exactly when yet, but it sucks, and I hate the driver of that car even more!

From Gurkah Crs up Mt Kaukau, plus the extra little loop and back via the front roads. Horrible weather and it was pretty nasty going over the top in the open. I still seem to have a huge capacity to freak myself out, especially in weather like this - only saw two people the whole way, and they were both pretty close to the carpark, but I kept thinking I'd heard someone. Pretty sure it was just rain.

Lakelands - a bit tired after last night and got a massive blister under my foot from my new orthotics, which was rather painful. Mucked up number 6 and lost about 6 mins there, which was pretty bad. Other than that I was just too slow again.
