Orienteering race 1:31:00 [5] 7.6 km (11:58 / km)

Canterbury Long Champs. Definitely not one of my better runs - local knowledge would have helped, but thats really no excuse. The many small mistakes probably reflected a lack of orienteering races in the recent past, and number 6 was particularly shocking, being in the right general area, but missing the control by mistaking an unmarked track for a useful marked one (Lara passed me, and she started 9 mins behind, and I somehow missed Georgia passing me again). Quite a good course, with butterfly loops, although for three people in my grade, perhaps a bit unnecessary to make us go in different orders!

Feet are suffering quite a bit from not being able to wear orthotics in my O shoes - I've now got swollen big toes, which are rather painful to walk on. Legs are full of thorns, and I've just noticed a huge swollen bruise on my shin - I'm sure the Physio will be intrigued on Tuesday...

Long Run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Warmup.

Orienteering race 43:00 [5] 3.6 km (11:57 / km)

Canterbury Middle Champs - first proper orienteering race for a while, played leap-frog with Georgia W and Lara the whole way, but only actually saw them twice - not the best run ever, lost 3mins on number 8 (visited 9 first), and a few other mistakes.

Long Run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Warmup.

Note
(rest day)

Rest - travelling up to Christchurch.

Bike 1:31:00 [3]
ahr:163 max:185

Usual kind of route - warm but windy today - went when I could no longer stand the neighbours' loud music (three of them finished exams this morning).

Exercises (rehab) 23:00 [3]

Hamstring no longer sore.

Wednesday Oct 24, 2007 #

Intervals (400m?) 39:03 [4]
ahr:168 max:190

Supposed to be 7x 400m at 102s, but ended up being 7x500m-ish at 125s? Not on a track, horizontal rain, strong wind. With Rita - heard about Labour weekend races.

Long Run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

13 warmup, 12 warmdown

Exercises (rehab) 23:00 [3]

Usual - hamstring still sore.

Long Run hills 55:03 [3]
ahr:173 max:187

Up Signal Hill as far as pine trees blocking the road (25mins), then back down, via the Botanic Gardens, where I got trapped, as they closed them due to falling trees after I had gone in the top, and before I got out at the bottom. Extremely windy - pushing me up the hill at some stages, coming back down I ran two or three steps without going anywhere a few times!

Exercises (rehab) 25:00 [3]

Same as usual - sore hamstring on left leg, though.

Other Sport 40:00 [3]

Summer Hockey.

Monday Oct 22, 2007 #

Exercises (rehab) 25:00 [3]

Usual

Exercises (Strengthening) 20:00 [3]

Same as last time.
