Orienteering 1:30:00 [4]

Freezing, freezing weather with lots of rain, combined with 10km of orienteering and the long run from yesterday led to lots of silly small mistakes, plus a few that allowed Rita to pass me three times after I caught her - arggh.

Long Run hills 2:07:00 [3]
ahr:171 max:198

With Greta and three other Knoxies, showing them where the Pineapple track was - first half all uphill, second half all downhill. Greta and the two boys were a bit faster, and I had to turn back earlier because I'd already run to Knox to pick them up, so that would have made it a very long run. A bit slower than I would have liked on the way back because the other girl came with me and unfortunately twisted her ankle twice (she's used to road running and the track was a bit rough). Fairly tired now though - getting up at 7am on a Saturday to run for two hours isn't the most relaxing way to spend your weekend - I can't believe Greta did it before breakfast.

Note
(rest day)

More physio - less painful this time but she said I shouldn't go for a run on it straight away, and seemed relieved to hear that it was my rest day.

Intervals intervals 40:07 [3]
ahr:160 max:189

6x 600m intervals at the track across the road. As I ran up the back straight I could watch the Highlanders playing, and see the NZ vs England cricket through the fence. Took a while to figure out how to accurately do 600m in lane 4, but luckily I was the only one there for most of the time, so no one was really watching me not being used to an athletics track.

Long Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

10 up - part of this was jogging around reading the markings on the track trying to figure out what I was doing. 10 down (some was very slow, watching the cricket as I went past).

Orienteering 25:00 [4]

Chingford Park, did a bit more bush-bashing than necessary, and missed the last control (got to 20m from the finish before I realised and had to run back up the hill to get it).

Bike warm up/down 40:00 [3]

Bike from the flat up Northeast Valley to orienteering and back.

Intervals 37:00 [4]
ahr:166 max:183

Intervals at Opoho Park - must have done about 10 laps. 2x 3min, 3x 2min, 4x 1min, 5x 30s, with jogging recoveries the same time as the interval before it. The last few were fun, doing just 30secs at a time.

Long Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

10 up, 10 down.

Long Run 1:15:00 [3]
ahr:165 max:178

Up through Botanic Gardens then to the reservoir (bottom track, top track, lower loop) and discovered that I can't get home from there in 15 minutes. Included 3 9min efforts. Was a bit slow (deep massage from the physio on my right peroneal muscles to try to break up scar tissue to release the nerve is very very painful I discovered), but my HR seemed very low for some reason. I now have swelling from the massage - arggghhh.
