Orienteering 30:00 [2]

Picking up a few controls with Riki after the SI schools champs, and debating whether it was the map or the control placement on one control which was dodgy (it seems to be the map if you come from above - from below the control was okay). It seemed to go well, and the courses were the right length and difficulty, so I must have done something right.

Long Run 31:30 [3]
ahr:168 max:180

A little run around the cemetery and botanic gardens when I got home - didn't feel like I'd really done much, despite being at orienteering all day. The weather was really nice as well, which always helps.

Exercises 15:00 [3]

Exercises again - that piriformis stretch is painful.

Long Run 1:42:00 [3]
ahr:170 max:183

Long run up the Pineapple Track to the second open part past the tanks. Hip felt a bit weird on the way back down again, so I'm glad I've got physio again on Monday. Really nice weather still - I'm trying not to jinx it.

Orienteering race 12:46 [5]

Sprint round Uni - part of the SI Schools Champs. Screwed up a few controls when I came across impassable fences that some people found to be passable and others didn't (obviously strict sprint race rules were not enforced). Hip was not feeling great, especially when turning, so maybe I did a bit much on it today.

Other Sport (Hockey) 1:00:00 [5]

Really intense game of hockey, sprinting almost the whole time. Unfortunately we lost 9-1...

Long Run tempo 30:11 [3]
ahr:176 max:188

Tempo run round Logan Park and the Botanic gardens. Much better than last time, but still struggling to get myself to increase speed in an even way.

Long Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

10 warm up round Logan Park, 10 warm down back through the cemetery.

Exercises 15:00 [3]

Back to the old exercises again.

Long Run 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:168 max:179

Run up Signal Hill via the cemetery, and back down through the mountain bike tracks behind Logan Park High School - a bit of a mistake because in trying to avoid the earthworks I took a detour I hadn't been on before, got lost, and ended up bush-bashing my way out to a stream and getting very muddy to find my way out. The track was also really steep and slippery (which contributed to the muddiness), so I had to go pretty slowly, hence the low HR.

Other Sport (Hockey) 45:00 [3]

Hockey practise - warmup run was up the stairs to the cemetery once, and back via Lovelock Ave. Having practise at 9pm has one benefit - it warms you up after being freezing cold for a few hours in the evening.

Note

Went to the physio again, and had some stuff done to my SIJ and L5-S1 joints and right back muscles, as well as Piriformis, because they are causing some problems in my hip and leg - have to go back three times next week.

Intervals intervals 23:30 [5]
ahr:181 max:196

Awesome set of intervals at the reservoir with Rita. 8x 1min intervals with 2min jogging recoveries. We really pushed them hard and raced each other, which was fun and meant that I ran a lot harder than I might have otherwise.

Long Run warm up/down 27:00 [3]

10min warm up, 17min warm down (nice run around the lower loop).

Bike 25:00 [3]

Ride to Rita's place and back (also rode to Uni and back, but I never put that on).

Bike 1:44:00 [3]
ahr:149

Bike out round the peninsula to just past Broad Bay and back - stopped when I got to the second set of roadworks (had to carry my bike over the first because it was all sharp stones). Wore tights and a jacket - the weather is significantly cooler than it was a few days ago. Finished fixing up the maps for the SI Schools Champs, so thats all done now.
