Intervals intervals 51:01 [4]
ahr:170 max:193

10 x 600m intervals (200 moderate, 200 fast, 200 sprint) with 400m jogging recoveries, at Victoria Park. I thought my sprint got slower, didn't time them but I think my fastest was 2.47, and I wasn't any more than 5 seconds slower than that (slowest was when a dog chased me then decided it would be fun to jump on my legs, so I had to stop so it would go and chase the ball the owner threw to distract it). Quite an intense session, iced shins when I got home because they were a bit sore.

Long Run warm up/down 17:00 [3]

10 up with stretches, 7 down.

Long Run 1:40:00 [3]
ahr:171 max:179

Long run - Montgomery Rd, Great North Rd, Virginia Rd (checked out the new subdivision at Lithgow Drive as well), down the walkway to Cullinane College, up the walkway to Gt North Rd past the netball courts, Oakland Ave, back gate into the lake, 1.5 laps of the lake, home via Montgomery Rd. Felt pretty good, but shins slightly sore at the beginning and end.

Note
(rest day)

Rest day, but ended up spending most of the day studying cranial nerve nuclei - how exciting.

Long Run tempo 30:05 [4]
ahr:179 max:193

Best tempo run I've done for a while - I was feeling quite motivated after just going for an hours' walk around the same area (Victoria Park, Lake x 2 (opposite directions)). I managed to get a fairly consistent acceleration throughout the run, which I've been struggling with for a while. Maybe it was the shoes...

Long Run warm up/down 18:00 [3]

9 up, 9 down.

Long Run 1:21:00 [3]
ahr:176 max:183

Seemed to take an awfully long time for 81 minutes - I think I know the area too well, and having to do multiple loops didn't help ( Montgomery Rd, Otamatea Reserve x 2, Lake x 3, home via Great North Rd, Tarata St).

Intervals hills 28:46 [5]
ahr:170 max:193

6x 2min hill reps up Great North Road, breathing in all those lovely exhaust fumes. Had a deadline to be back home, so warmup was a bit rushed, and in the first interval I went straight into anaerobic, which didn't start the session off well, but felt good at the end.

Bike warm up/down 17:00 [3]

7 up (too quick, as well as short), 10 down (after I realised I'd done them fast enough to take my time getting home).

Note

I got new shoes! My old Trabucos were falling to pieces, so I left them in Dunedin, forcing myself to buy new ones - they feel so soft - its great.

Bike 41:05 [3]
ahr:150

Cycling on my old mountain bike at home - not particularly fun after getting used to my roadbike. Felt quite achey and one of my right butt muscles started hurting a lot, so cut it quite short.
