Orienteering 3:15:00 [3]

Rogaine at Kereru Station. Dragged Simon along and we won, so that was pretty good. Tried to get all four 150 point controls, which would have been fine if we hadn't mucked up 23 and lost about 5 mins there, then lost a bit of time in the river getting 9, 12, 7, 13 and 17. Finally got to 28 with 4 mins to go, so I knew we would be late, but unfortunately had to run straight past 2, 5, and 3 on the way back. It was 10 points per minute back late so lost all the points we got for 28. Managed to get electrocuted a few times, which was annoying, and kicked something right near the end which has bruised the whole top of my foot.

Really lazy day, quite unmotivated, didn't get beyond the letterbox. Then slept really badly because I hadn't done anything all day...

Long Run 20:00 [3]

10 min warm up, 10 warm down - from the Tauroa Rd end to near the lookout on the way to the redwoods. Really wasn't feeling it today.

From near the lookout, through the redwoods, up the goat track to the Peak, down the mountain bike track, through the redwoods, and along the higher track back towards the lookout. Wasn't really feeling motivated today - seeing a patient I was friends with as a kid who now has major psych problems made the day a pretty tough one. In some ways this was good as I think I managed to get the pace about right - fastish but not pushing too hard. Felt way better once I'd finished though.

Down the beach to the surf beach and back along the cycle track with Simon again. Less hard work on the beach this time because the tide was lower, but felt tireder than last time, but then it turns out yesterdays run was probably a bit faster than I should have done, and I've still got a bit of a cold that won't go away.

10 mins warm up from Helen's through the trees to the start of the bridge lead-up. 13 mins warm down from halfway across the bridge round through the mud flats and across the close bridge back to Helen's.

Tempo run 40:07 [3]

Two and a bit laps of Pandora Pond, total of just under 8km I think. Started at the bridge leadup, so ran across the bridge, mudflats, close bridge, past Helen's, and then through the trees to the bridge again. Laps of 19.14, 19.10, then 1.42 extra, which got me almost halfway across the bridge (its really long). Felt a bit tired to start off with, but once I got into a rhythm it was better. Sunny warm day for it too.

Long Run 37:00 [3]

Run to the surf beach in Te Awanga and back with my flatmate Simon. Ran along the beach dodging the waves most of the way there, which was hard work, but I had to test him out to see if I will beat him in tough guy, and therefore how much to bet on me winning (so far we are at a snowboarding lesson if I win and KFC and beer if he wins...). I'm not overly hopeful given that he has that annoying natural fitness that most guys seem to have, despite his choice of post-run drinks, but you never know...
