Orienteering race 1:16:37 [5]*** 9.8 km (7:49 / km) +195m 7:07 / km
spiked:0/30c slept:4.0 shoes: Integrators
A truely minging performance.

Excuses could be: lack of sleep (too hot), 3 beers, long travelling, complacency, killer intervals from last Tuesday, recurrance of shin splints, wrong shoes, heat, lack of adaptability.

Never got into map (was it possibly a little inconsistant....?!), made bad route choices, couldn't judge distance, lost interest when mistakes were made due to increased grot traversing requirement, felt unlike a runner (until post 26 potter about), felt unlike an orienteer (the whole way).

Started off okay but was caught (1min) by NickB by 5. Followed (shh) to 6 which he and therefore me screwed up (dodgy marking of cliffs). Took longer to sort out than Nick therefore couldn't keep up. Annoyed. Not feeling sprightly. Did okay until 15 (mid leg wimp out of going through green), 16 terrible route choice, 17 kept on losing where I was, 18 utterly rubbish distance judgement, 21 punched wrong control!!!!! (dsq) thought I even checked code! 24 very hesitant, 26 foolishly expected there to be a difference between undergrowth and no undergrowth therefore was way too low and confused. Felt really good after this though and kept up with Mike Sprot comfortably to finish.

Lucky that run didn't count eh!

Saturday Oct 13

Orienteering 45:00 [2]*** 7 km (6:26 / km) +100m 6:00 / km
spiked:0/15c shoes: Innov8s
Cruisy Training on Sherwood Pines. Wasn't feeling/thinking amazing but was hopeful it would loosen me up/get me into terrain for CST - it didn't....

Wednesday Oct 10

Running 1:00:00 [2]6.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +300m 5:23 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Saucony Running Shoes
Cruisy FVO run up Dumyat - hamstrings destroyed by intervals yesterday so very easy pace.

Tuesday Oct 9

Running intervals 1:00:00 [5]3 km (20:00 / km)
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics Running
Speed intervals very nearly breaking hamstrings due to my lack of sprinting for many years.

3x5x30secs

Warmup strides
Warmdown jog

Monday Oct 8

Circuits 1:00:00 [4]
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics Running
Circuits at uni. Instructor was a bit useless and the ratio of fit girls to me is pants compared with last year.
