Orienteering race 30:07 [3] 3.58 km (8:25 / km) +130m 7:08 / km

S6D6 Grandtully. Took some drugs, manned up and decided to give it a try. Walked to start as still not confident running. Delighted to discover it was only a middle! Ran very steady but found all the flags fine. Only issue was a big banana to 5. Ant Squire raced past at one point, no chance of keeping with him. Went over on my ankle at 13, even though taped. Swore a bit. Managed to run it off but lost a minute or two. Achilles jarred painfully a few times but nothing too bad. Even though running at 70% max, still finished 6th. Probably a lesson there somewhere...

Overall a respectable 5th over the week. Very consistent and knowing I don’t have the pace of Will etc meant I could orienteer very safely. Probably maximised performance as I didn’t beat anyone who finished ahead of me on any day...

Great fun week, really enjoyed the orienteering and the atmosphere, just a shame about our injury woes.

Spent the morning at Stirling minor injuries getting Fi’s foot/ankle checked out. Minor break so 6 days over for her. Shame since she was just getting into it...

Put out Dave’s radio controls but realised there was no way I’d be doing any races since I could only just walk.

Then Fi top trumped me by properly going over her ankle!

Orienteering race 40:03 [4]

Day 3: Dundurn & Cnoc a Mhadaidh
5th. Great new area in a beautiful setting on a lovely day. Pretty good run. Roundabout route to 2 but otherwise solid. Saved a bit for the big run in comp which was a big mistake as when I accelerated away from the control something in my Achilles/heal went. I ignored this and sprinted through for a glorious defeat. Should have known better... and Definitely think there should be a handicap for runners with si air!

Physically tough course with some gratuitous climbs at Edinchip. Which meant I was struggling mentally by the end. Nearly missed out the control after the dodgy river.

Cycling 1:08:01 [3] 15.21 km (4:28 / km) +215m 4:11 / km

Cycle back from St Fillans to Comrie Croft just because I could.
