Running 1:00:00 [1]

Run on the hills around Mount Stuart with Crocodile Dundee. Then we went to the Townsville Movember Mo-Town party in the evo for the climax to the moustache growing competition. The prizes included best mo, slow mo, no mo, man of Movember, best mo sista and best dressed to match mo.

Running 1:00:00 [1]

Run on the hills around JCU campus with a fella from the lab who looks like a cross between Steve Irwin and Mick Dundee. Stone the crows, he couldn't look more like a sterotypical fair dinkum Aussie if he tried. Trinny and Susannah, with an infinite supply of time and money, would struggle to make him look any more Australian. I was gutted when I found out that he's actually from Norway.

Running 40:00 [1]

Early morning run along the river before another hard day's yakka at uni. It looks like the bad weather from Sheffield has moved over to Queensland as the temperature today has plummeted to 31 degrees. If it gets any colder then i'm going to have to change into a thicker t-shirt.

Running 1:00:00 [1]

Strike a light, I managed a whole hour running. Crikey. Took a boat over to Magnetic Island and ran on the trails through the bush. Saw a roo and a koala but i'm yet to encounter my first snake. I have, however, leaped in panic over many a stick. If I had to describe the major defining characteristics of a snake in 6 words then "looks a bit like a stick" would feature fairly highly on my list so this happens frequently. On the positive side, I think all this jumping may help to extend my stride length.

Running 40:00 [1]

Cadged a lift to uni with a shelia from the lab so went for run along the ross river before work.

Running 40:00 [1]

Along the beach and then found the way up Castle Hill. It's a fair dinkum slog up the hill but I was stoked with the bonza views from the top.

Wednesday Nov 21, 2007 #

Running 50:00 [1]

Had a gander around the city in the evo. Tried (and failed) to find the route up Castle Hill after some flamin' galah directed me the wrong way.

Running 50:00 [1]

Around Townsville. Strewth, it's an abso-bloody-lute scorcher day. ripper.

Monday Nov 19, 2007 #

Note

On a plane. Reached my boredom threshold a long time ago.

Running 25:00 [1]

Run on the beach in Townsville at midnight.

Sunday Nov 18, 2007 #

Note

On a plane. Except for a thrilling 12 hours spent in Abu Dhabi airport, along with thousands of other people, waiting for some non-existent fog to clear. The only entertainment was watching Harry Redknapp getting increasingly irate at the delays after i'd blagged my way into the business class lounge. Still bored.

Road Biking 30:00 [1]

Decided I needed a new colour so cycled from Lodge Moor to Crookes and back. I've now got yellow. How exciting. I'm not sure whether cycling qualifies as "proper" training though so I feel like i'm cheating a bit.

Running 31:00 [1] 5.9 km (5:15 / km)

Oli, Nails, Craney et al, watch out, i'm catching you. That's 2 training sessions in one day. That's one small step away from a triathlon. That's one giant leap away from a triathlon at the same time since I can't swim - but I digress - you get the point. Be afraid.

Cash game. spent £325 and lost the lot. Eric Cantona, Tetley Bitter, Sir Jimmy Saville. I'm done. That's the full and exhaustive list of all the good things to have come out of Leeds. The poker players at Leeds Gala casino are most definitely not on the list. Especially the one's that call £220 raises with a pair of 6's and then hit trips on the river.
