Hamilton Island hill race in the Whitsundays. 36:54. You've gotta love these tin-pot races in Queensland: free entry; six drinks stations in 7km; route markers every few metres; more marshalls than you can shake a stick at; press coverage from three different newspapers; and, best of all, the aussies are all hibernating for the winter so no-one with any semblance of running ability actually takes part leaving me to take home the $500 prize money infront of the captivated spectators, of which there were seven.

Tis the middle of winter now in Queensland so all the locals are wrapping up warm and moaning incessantly about the freezing cold weather. It dropped below 25 degrees overnight yesterday. Shocking. Surely no human can cope in such hostile conditions. Even Bear Grylls couldn't survive here.. I'll be glad to be back in the "reet reet hot" Sheffield sunshine in a couple of weeks before hypothermia sets in.
