Running 40:00 [2] 7.5 km (5:20 / km)

Running 30:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

The last day on the Gold Coast so went out for quick run before heading down to the casino to get knocked out early doors for the 4th tournament in a row. Down-swing-tastic. On the positive side, at least I busted so early that it meant I still had the opportunity to enjoy a full day on the beach afterwards. And a switch in career to becoming a professional credit card roulette player may be imminent. The scoreboard reads: played five, won five. Get in.

Ran for 19 minutes along the beach. No particular reason. 18 just didn't seem good enough anymore. Walk on.

Up north to Queensland for the next stop on the poker tour - the Gold Coast - perhaps best described as a cross between Blackpool and Las Vegas, but retaining the extreme tackiness elements from both. Ian Brown asserted that "Manchester's got everything except a beach" so it is perhaps appropriate that on the other side of the world there exists a city where the polar opposite is true. But finally some warm, sunny weather and, more importantly, the casino appears to be home to the worst poker players in the entire country which, in Australia, is no mean feat.

Strewth, our last day in Sydney so headed up to Palm Beach (a.k.a. Summer Bay) to search for flamin' galahs at the Surf Club. But, stone the crows, Alf wasn't working. It was entertaining to watch the camera crew film a "sunny" beach scene using a fair dinkum combination of umbrellas, a wind break and lighting equipment though while the actors changed into hats and coats to keep warm between takes.
